    OK Job

    Dsr (Current Employee) Rockford, IL

ProsYou can make money. Good Benefits' ok retirement. Plenty of advancement potential with college degree. Co workers for the most part are exellent guys to work with.

ConsCompany has an idea of where it wants to go but because it is so completely different from what they have been doing they're not sure on how to get there; or at least there's no evidence of it. To many college minded people running company without real pratical experience in moving freight. Lousy hours, to much about #s little to do with the reality of the situation.

Advice to Senior ManagementIntegrate more senior drivers into management.

    Sad Situation

    Dsr (Current Employee) Dallas, TX

ProsMost fellow employees unhappy with management.....It's one thing to hire a supervisor off the street and make him my boss,..........but when you take a fellow driver and make him a boss, that's a chicken thing to do.......

ConsLong hour's, Supervisor's who act like they are God's gift to the trucking industry, overall morale.....

Advice to Senior Managementnone to offer.....they wont get their head out long enough to listen.......

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

A fine place to get OTR experience

OTR Driver (Former Employee) Joplin, MO

ProsDrivers are generally treated with respect, the equipment is kept in good condition, lots of small perks like the ability to choose your own routing or bank days off, etc. There are still many employees who take pride in their work.

ConsCompany thinks 10,000 miles/month is good for an over the road driver. Pay rates lag industry as well. Driver turnover used to be lowest in the industry, but it is rapidly rising as the brass focuses their attention on attracting lower-cost employees (new hires and those with little experience). As a result, the company is no longer positioned as the premium service offering the drivers could take pride in.

Advice to Senior ManagementSteer the company back towards being the premium service provider it once was. Don't slip into the mega-carrier mold. Reward service & production.

    Silos Everywhere

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsYou get to work with great people, even if they tend to be ignorant of the world outside of Con-way.

ConsDon't expect to get broad experience. Despite claiming to have a commitment to giving people varied work experiences, it rarely happens. Pay tends to lag the market once you are there.

    CSR for small SIC

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGood family atmosphere within the terminal

ConsThey are hiring temps for their CSR and dock workers that will never be hired in directly

Con-way is very organized in their general business practices. Their fleets are well-maintained.

OTR Truck Driver (Former Employee) Mariposa, CA

ProsFleets are well maintained and the they do emphasize safety.

ConsThey're not considerate about getting you home on time. You really have no control over your own personal schedule at all.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus on really getting drivers home when you say you will. Get some larger trucks for taller drivers. The Kenworth T600 is hard for a tall person to move around in.
