Worst experience of my entire career!

    Sales (Former Employee)

ProsDecent pay but you can make a lot of money in a thousand better companies.

ConsExtremely unorganized, high turnover in management, little to no internal support. You can send emails all day long, call people, send instant messages, and you will still get no responses. Leadership has no idea how to work internal processes and procedures so you have to get in line with 800 other people for assistance from a SME and often times they have to recruit help as well. Customers are very frustrated because they have the same issues in trying to get help. This company doesn't "do the right thing" in taking care of their employees. Segments are not friendly with each other and often times stab each other in the back.

Incompetent QE management at all levels

Senior Software Design Engineer - Test (Current Employee) Bellevue, WA

ProsI cannot find one pros to add here, getting ready to move out

ConsQE management lacking technicals skills , disrespectful to people
Management promoted in less than a year? Don't we already pay them to do their job, do we need to promote them every 8 months or so?
For non manager QE not a lot of growth opportunities after senior level.

A shooting star on the way to burn out

Regional Sales Manager (Former Employee) Seattle, WA

ProsThe founders appear to be nice people. Lots of people have been there from the beginning. Easy to sell if you know how to open high level doors.

ConsThe nepotism runs rampant among the long timers. The long timers do not have fresh outlook because they haven't been out there in forever. The ability to assimilate fresh blook and thoughts is nonexistent and will be the demise of the company

Advice to Senior ManagementRewrite our systems. Replace or retire some of your longest employees. They are poison to your company and are threatened by anything new even if it increases revenues and decreases sales cycle times and expenses. HUGE EGOS HAVE TO GO.

The Quality Assurance group is Incompetent

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsThe company is a market leader in travel and expense software

ConsThe senior qa management is incompetent not a single one of them have any experience running a qa org.

They act as a know it all but their reports actually laugh at their incompetency. I did not get any direction or support from my management and I was promised the world and when i delivered, the promises vanished. If incompetency was bad enough the management actually horrible at listening to their reports and acting on it. Never een such low morale among the employees as I have seen with the qa team at concur.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe senior management is incompetent and a bunch of misfits. If you want the qa team to be successful hire smart people

Sweatshop....Horrible place..horrible culture..this place is setting itself up for failure.

Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee) Vienna, VA

ProsI am thinking long and hard...and I have nothing positive to say about this SWEATSHOP. You won't even want your worst enemy to work for this horrible company. They fired a bunch of people in front of my very eyes at their first mistake....no 2 weeks notice nothing...just fire people at will. Yeah...nothing nice to say here

    ConsSweatshop...
Management doesn't appreciate your efforts ( even if you do 60+hrs per week)
    Treat people like scum
    Filled with prejudiced people...
    NO SDLC
    NO Software process
    CHAOTIC at best
No doubt they will fail...Concur Government Edition ( horribly managed)...you are bound to fail.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou should see beyond the stock price...

What a joke of a company

Senior Software Engineer (Current Employee) Redmond, WA

Prosgood and nice people. good benefits and competative salaries, but other than that you will not find good with this company

ConsBAD technology - Classic ASP is the main developing language
BAD Architect - people that are not batter than junior developers were pointed to be architects which have no idea of design patters or how to develop a quality code.
There was / is an initiative to move to MVC3 (yeas 3 not 4) from classic ASP but even with this model the way they write code (MVC C# etc) is as if they were still developing ASP code
You will not find ownership there. People don't care what they are doing and how it is been done. No share knowledge, common answer around here is "I DON'T KNOW". Wiki pages is a bad word the way they write documentation about common practice is sharing a one note page

Advice to Senior Managementbe managers stop writing code

Possible Career Suicide looking at historic and future company challenges

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Redmond, WA

    ProsGreat offerings
    Big exciting huge promises.
Lot of rotating managers to learn from.

    ConsDangerous for anyone currently employed
to risk an ever changing management landscape.
United Healthcare - could be the WORST in WA
Based on other HR dept, caregivers hospitals doctors

Advice to Senior ManagementConfusing with so many groups that communicate
very little to each other. It's a small company
and needs to get honest about not being honest.
Nothing worse than using progress as an excuse for
For bad ownership behavior. It starts from the top.

Run don't walk as fast as you can away from this company!

Regional Sales Manager (Former Employee) Seattle, WA

ProsFinancially stable with cash in the bank
    Leader in the market place
Good place for men to work
Good place for college grads to work out of collage

ConsNepotism, Very very dysfunctional company. Heavy middle management with limited experience. Does not know how or doesn't want to integrate new employees. Management has to be right. No regard for performance during re-orgs, They have no idea or even desire to integrate new employees. Last in first out even if you out perform and are number one in the US or the World. HR has been known to share confidential information.

Advice to Senior ManagementTurn the company over to professionals to run. You're about to hit a really big wall in technology.
Eliminate nepotism or you will not ever be able to transform as you get bigger. Encourage long term employees to get some exposure to other software companies as the world has changed drastically since they joined.

Experience was not what I hoped for.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Redmond, WA

ProsThey do offer good benefits and depending on the mgr usually allow to telecommute. Have some intelligent people on most of the teams.

ConsNo work life balance. Management doesn't listen to employees feedback. HR doesn't help the employees with issues and strictly states the company line. Constantly trying to change things without giving anything a chance.

Advice to Senior ManagementWork on internal communication between departments Continually trying to grow teams too quickly and creating poor morale in many of the departments.

    Stay Away

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) Redmond, WA

ProsDecent benefits and paid time off.

ConsHR is the worst I have ever seen. Only at work to promote themselves. I found it hard to find employees at Concur who felt differently.

Senior management prefers "yes" men/women. If you have an opinion that differs from top management you will have trouble moving up.

Most people at Concur below the Director level can't wait for the market to improve so they can leave.

Morale is very low within many of the departments.

People should stay away from this company at all costs.

Advice to Senior ManagementActually pay attention to internal surveys and make some of the changes that can help turn morale around.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
