    Great Learning and Development Program

Leadership Development Program Associate (Current Employee)

ProsYou're hired fresh out of college - you get a salary, a steady paycheck, benefits and a GREAT LEARNING EXPERIENCE.

The LDP makes the transition from college life to professional life very natural, there are always people there to lean on for advice.

You can stand out or fit in as much as you want to - the more you volunteer for extra opportunities the more you are recognized and get additional opportunities.

The program has structure and benchmarks but each company runs the program differently and so experiences are typically tailored to achieve the individual's goals.

The experience you get in all different kinds of areas will give you skills you need for any career path.

You're also given the time and freedom to decide where you want your career to go.

    It's a great training program!

ConsHigh starting salary but not always much increase once graduating from the program.
    Benefits are not great

    Happily Hard at Work

Leadership Development Program Associate (Current Employee)
    Memphis, TN

Pros*Merit based program where career advancement is essentially placed in your own hands. You get out what you put in. Those who understand the value of hard work and a positive attitude in today's work enviorment will become company President's, controllers, or high level managers.

*CGX allows young college graduates extensive training in the industry to allow for success later on their career.

*Management understands and cares that in the end of the program, that choosing the career opportunity that suits you best is also healthy for the company.

*Constantly challenged to propel yourself to the next level professionally and personally.

*Company continually invests in new equipment and technology services. Financially stable. Associates have work security.

*Exposure to high profile clients early in your professional career.

Cons*The salary and benefits are not in line with what is expected out of a TOP LEVEL associate.

    * Some rotations call for a level of dedication that eliminates the ability for someone to have a healthy work life balance.

Advice to Senior ManagementI like to say that I am happily hard at work at Consolidated Graphics. As a recent graduate of the program, I've landed in a management position that stretches my professionalism and ability each day. This is a challenging program that is not for everyone. However, for those who understand the expectations it is highly beneficial and a great place to launch your career. Every day is a new challenge and when you prove you can handle the dynamic enviornment, you will be rewarded!

Great company with a lot of potential!

    Sales Associate (Former Employee)
    Costa Mesa, CA

ProsGreat combination of thinking globally, acting locally. Each company is locally managed (often with original management from before Consolidated Graphics). Therefore, the individual companies know a LOT about their local markets. But - being part of the Consolidated Network allows for global reach and purchasing power, as well as support from highly qualified, highly experienced people.

ConsMore mentoring of new salespeople would be helpful, including the opportunity to tour and meet with the management at multiple facilities, especially facilities that have different capabilities that the home facility. Continue to encourage sales training and independent continuing education.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep going, don't give up in this difficult environment. Invest more in a team that is designed to answer larger requests for proposals from a comprehensive, integrated perspective.

    LDP

    Associate- LDP (Current Employee)

ProsEndless opportunities to advance your career. Ability to move to multiple locations (70+ companies network wide). Long term projects in different locations. Exposure to executives at an early age. If you put the long hard work in up front, it will pay off down the road.

ConsLong hours. Stressful situations. Repetitive/Grunt work as a new LDP. Starting salary could be better but it is definitely competitive for an entry level position

Advice to Senior ManagementNAM/FYI/News Letter are great ways to keep people informed. A "Position List" would be nice to have for graduating LDPs so they know what is available in the network.

A rollercoaster ride that has pushed me to grow personally & professionally, and, longterm, has been very worthwhile.

    Sales (Current Employee)

ProsRoom for advancement, peer support, opportunities to live & travel to different areas, job security w/a financially sound company, visibility & exposure to top management, their leadership development program gives college grads time to feel out their strengths & interests to find the right position within the company, ability to make an impact or difference to the company's bottom line early on

ConsLong hours, hard work, you need to look out for yourself, the starting salary is tough for a college grad but if you have a long-term orientation & work hard & be your own advocate you can do well!

Advice to Senior ManagementI recommend taking more time on the hiring side for the leadership development program - there's a certain type of person that can persevere through a 3 year program like CGX's.

I thank the executive leadership for being visible to the LDPs at the First Year Initiative & National Associates Meeting - that is very much appreciated & respected.
