    Transparent & Optimistic

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe mission of working for small businesses keeps management humble, and focused on the right targets. I've also never seen a company so willing to share information at all levels of management, and maintain constant transparency, which improves morale and helps employees maintain a sense of purpose. The emphasis on work/life balance is immense, and work hard, play hard mentality drives the success of every department!

ConsNo cons yet! Just need to keep up the hard work to scale up to the number of customers, to maintain the same spirit that makes Constant Contact!

ProsThe company culture is great. The things you hear during the interview process about the culture have proven accurate - work hard/play hard, employees don't take themselves too seriously, flip flops are just fine work shoes, beer carts on Fridays, and if you have ideas, take them to your manager and at best you'll be given the green light and at worst they'll tell you that they appreciate your feedback and to keep it coming but they're going to go in a different direction. Flexible with schedules (start early/end early is just fine, although some start later and work later, which is fine too) and eager to get you settled and feeling comfortable. People seem to really enjoy their work, who they work with, and who they work for (small businesses). Super smart people. Approachable upper management. Stand up and treadmill desks available, which is awesome.

ConsMy commute is awful, but not much to be done about that because I don't plan to move.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep coming out of your offices and making yourselves available to employees, it's good for morale!

Great People, Fun to serve SMBs

    Marketing (Former Employee)
    Waltham, MA

ProsThe people and the customers. Hands down. They hire smart people that you learn from, that can challenge you and that you'd like to have a beer with (or soda). Executive leadership works hard to keep the culture a work hard play hard environment.

ConsNone really. They had some growing pains for a while, but knew it and focused on working them, they listen to employees and work to find a solution.

    Fun and Valuable Internship

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Waltham, MA

    Pros- Interesting Work
    - Knowledgeable People
    - Friendly Environment
    - Competitive Pay
    - Fun, Social Activities
    - Quality Intern Program
    - Relatively Transparent Management in regards to strategy for a company of its size

Constant Contact offers a great internship program. I was very lucky to have secured a position over the summer in my area of interest. I landed on a great team working on an interesting project, from which I learned a lot about being effective in the software world. The company has a good name, and that has opened doors for me in finding a full-time job. While I wish I could have stayed on-board as a permanent employee, I'm still happy nonetheless for the opportunity I had at a great company. I felt appreciated as an intern. I was being assigned meaningful work. And the pay was good, as well as the frequent free food and beer cart Fridays. HR went to great lengths to make our time at CTCT enjoyable. We had lunch sessions with the senior executives, including Gail, the CEO. We were treated to a Red Sox game. And a few other freebies. Considering that we were all getting paid to learn and grow in our respective fields, the attention and care we received was very generous.

Cons- Product Suite not as cutting edge as some of our competitors
    - Size: Organization sometimes felt comprised of silos
    - Slow to Implement Change (So much buy-in and negotiation required)

Advice to Senior Management- Implement Innovation Faster
    - Look to the future, try not to be trapped by the legacy
    - Cultivate more cross-functional interaction among all employees, not just middle and upper and management

    Rewarding and positive experience

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Waltham, MA

ProsGreat people, incentives, and culture. The company offers a great benefits package and has a ton of perks their employees.

ConsNeeds to keep its focus on the product and its customers. There are too many people making decisions who shouldn't be. They need to keep their fast paced mentality in check if they want to see added growth.

Advice to Senior ManagementThere are a lot of talented people at this company whose ideas and suggestions should be listened to more. When you bring in talented people, don't just make them do things the way they've always been done, let them challenge the status quo and make the product better.

This has been so far, the greatest company I could have ever worked for!

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Waltham, MA

ProsGreat people, lots of collaboration, decent benefits, lots of opportunities to progress and increase your career, everyone here generally cares not only for one another, but also for the customers/clients we provide our service to.

ConsThere aren't many downsides to working at Constant Contact, however, I have heard many people wish that the Benefits were a little bit better, such as a lower 401(k) Match than previous jobs. There's also a fairly large disconnect from the "Customer Operations" working environment, to the rest of the company

Advice to Senior ManagementI think upper management is doing a great job at reacting to many issues that come up. However, if they attempted to switch from reactive to proactive, there most likely wouldn't be any issues that come up at all.
