ConsThe work/life balance is not great. A lot of overtime for no additional compensation.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe merger has created a lot of additional work, which means we need more staff.

    Experience depends on the department

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe compensation package can be good at Constellation; however, the work/life balance will depend upon the department and manager. There are lots of opportunities to learn, grow, and gain exposure to senior management if you're good.

ConsIf you're good, you'll have more work than you know what to do with. This can lead to a terrible work/life balance if you don't manage it correctly. Also, there has been a lot of organizational changes in the last few years in some of the departments which can be stressful if you like a stable/predictable environment.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to allow employees to stretch beyond their job title; however, allow them to make the inevitable mistakes in a safe environment.

    Intern (Former Employee)
    Baltimore, MD

ProsHad a great experience ar Constellation. They have a great culture with great workers. My team worked very well together and they paid well.

ConsSometimes it seemed that it was hard to move within the company. I enjoyed my team but felt if I wanted to switch it would of been hard.

Advice to Senior ManagementI felt that they could of offered a program which would enable the interns to move amongst the different teams and really see the exposure within the company.

    Constellation's Cool

    Principal Financial Analyst (Current Employee)
    Baltimore, MD

ProsThe energy industry is quite dynamic so the company is positioned to offer career growth opportunity. The company also fosters a collegial environment where employee views are valued. Compensation package is considered fairly decent. Benefits are generally good except vacations.

ConsLong hours due to conservative approach to staffing. Vacation entitlement is not great (3 weeks for the first 15 years). Company has quite a barbell distribution in terms of employee seniority.

    Advice to Senior ManagementNothing

Typical compensation and work environment for a large utility ... changes coming

    Director (Former Employee)

ProsBenefits are solid and depending on the individual assignment, people seem very loyal and willing to work together.

ConsA significant number of new employees from other segments of the industry is causing a shift in the culture away from the employee. As the company gets larger, the feeling of being treated as an individual is going away slowly.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe more careful regarding advancement. It is not a good idea to hire a group of like minded individuals to the point of group think. Debate and discussion should be encouraged as a means to improve in each area. There is a significant pool of very strong people working there ... give them a voice.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Excellent company with lots of opportunities

    Sourcing Analyst (Current Employee)

ProsLeadership team is great and very visionary. There are job opportunities across the company and in the utility in Baltimore.

ConsCurrent merger with Exelon provides opportunities as well as challenges. Some people will truly benefit from the opportunities, others will be placed in temporary positions.

Advice to Senior ManagementDrive the synergies and efficiencies that come with the merger. Make the new company the best out of the two legacy companies.

It has been a good living for me. I was able to get my education through the company and eventually move up the ladder.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsGood pay... good people - good hours

ConsToo many meetings - not a clear direction - too many layers to go through to get things done. Sometimes talents are recognized unless you have an Engineering degree.

Advice to Senior ManagementI wouldn't want to be part of management. They are told how to think. Very few stick up for what is right.
