    Travel Benefits, relative job security, task diversity, respect from co-workers, decent but expensive medical benefits, good sick time policy. Central Job Location

    Cons

    poor advancement opportunities, poor holiday and vacation policy. Very poor middle management. Eroding health, 401K and pension benefits. Eroding health benefits.

    Go back to real Dignity and Respect...Go back to employee empowering. Stop the ridiculous executive bonuses and return to real pay for long term performance...not short term personal executive gains

    I worked at Continental Airlines

    Pros

    Working in reservations was wonderful. Extremely flexible hours with the ability to pick up additional shifts or drop shifts as needed. The commission plan in reservations is one of the best in the industry. There are also many opportunites to take familiarization trips that are organized and leader by the company, giving the agents the ability to visit the location that they are actually selling to our customers. Continental is also very community involved, sponsoring golf tournaments, cook-offs, etc.

    Cons

    The major downside is working at a small outstation. In my case, the station does not follow corporate policy. The inmates are running the assylum, so to speak. The GM is aware of the situation, and is ok with it.

    The travel benefits. I get a chance to see the world and meet different people.

    Work-regs. flexibility/ ability to drop down to 0 hours if necessary/proud to have held together/ Great people everyday you get to work with/ convenient for mothers

    I worked at Continental Airlines

    Pros

    They give good employee feedback. Working with the customers on flights can be fun. Going to different cities is a blast and working with other flight attendants and the crew is fun. I visited many different cities while I was working for them. They have a modern fleet of airplines and they try their best to provide good customer service to all the people that fly on the airline. They are based in Houston, so if you are based in Houston, TX, you will have the ability to fly more flights and get in your hours for the month. I really enjoyed working for them.

    Cons

    Passriding can be difficult. Sometimes managers are too busy.

    Continental is not as good as it seems in the main line media. Growing percentage of unhappy employees!

    To be affiliated with a Company that consistantly wins awards & is looked up to in the Industry.

    Cons

    If you ask the people working within the Company and the way people are under-paid and have less benefits than other major airlines even though we are supposed to be the best in the business the employees are not anywhere near what American/Delta/United/Northwest/Southwest pay & benefits. That's even after those companies have went through bankrupcies and cut backs they still do better that Continental employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    The tide is changing. Employee Moral is coming down and it shows in our performance and work. Wake up Management, I see it daily in my department. Listen to the people that do the job daily. Not the Managers! Technology needs to be improved. It takes money to make money.

    Pros

    I love the people I work with. I love to be able to get away from home and not have to worry about household duties everyday. Also, it's nice to be able to have easy access to warm places when the weather at home is less than favorable. I have a good amount of vacation time and 15-18 days off a month.

    Cons

    It's an airline and the airline industry is notorious for their frequent instabilities in relation to the economy and other factors. Flight delays are very frustrating. Our typical workday can be very long and exhausting--up to 14 hours and occasionally more. Living out of a suitcase can sometimes get to you.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    It's not good to be so removed from your front-line employees. Employee morale is greatly improved when they feel that senior management care and are willing to personally listen to their feedback.

    Pros

    If your goal in life is to see the world, then the airline industry might be right for you. My opinion is that Continental Airlines is one of the leaders in the industry. You get paid to see the world, although it is not very lucrative at first. With seniority comes better pay, schedule flexibility, and choice of destinations. Continental has the youngest fleet in the industry, so mechanical delays are less frequent than most airlines. Continental is also the best paying airline in the industry, in respect to the flight attendant career. Management has excellent communication skills, daily updates are available via email or voice mail.

    Cons

    My following comments aren't specific to Continental Airlines, but common to the airline industry. Your pay does not begin with check in at the duty desk (one hour before departure) but only once the passengers are completely boarded and the boarding door has been closed. Your pay then stops once you land and the boarding door is once again open. As an in-flight crew member, you aren't paid for time spent in the airports between flights(up to several hours each day). This might translate to a 13 hour duty day, but in reality your getting paid for 6 hours(actual flight time). You will be declaring poverty at the beginning of you career.

    Senior management is doing a fine job considering the mess the airline industry is currently in.
