Former Employee – worked at Convio full-time for more than 3 years

ProsConvio had very strong senior leadership, a great mission with a reasonable work/life balance and a well organized workspace with decent benefits and salaries.

ConsThe company tended to be balkanized and highly political. The company always felt that it was solely on a march to get investors paid out. Budgets were squeezed to force teams to make do with less, particularly when it came to supporting customer needs. Middle management was mostly weak and suffered from too many revolving door hires from the local tech scene.

Advice to Senior ManagementMy advice would no longer be relevant since the acquisition by Blackbaud.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

ProsConvio has a mission which is worthy of the effort we put into. It feels good to help non-profit organization.

ConsSome groups are too tied into the way things are done. Internal change is hard. Management relies on the good old boy network to make missions. If you are not part of the network, your view is not wanted.

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't try to do more with less.
decide on what important and staff appropriately.
Departments need a vision for the future and manager need to share the vision

Austin, TX

Former Employee – worked at Convio

ProsFairly relaxed and fun environment, nice people and working for good causes. Nice work/life balance. A lot of younger people working there is great.

ConsNot much of the newest and best technology. Poor business mapping and user experience / web design is poor and is a constant client feedback.

Advice to Senior ManagementSpice it up a little and push a little harder.

Employees were allowed to work independently without excessive micro-management

ConsMore senior positions were treated more fairly
