Doing things the Coremark way is synonymous with an expletive... you get my point right?

    Pros

Great benefits, I can say they have an all around good insurance program. The offices and breakrooms are clean.

    Cons

I used to be a positive person before I started working for this company. I soon realized there was a cultlike attitude with upper management. You have to swear allegiance to a group of sensitive, ego maniac managers that live and breath Coremark. Now let me say, I am passionate wherever I work, but I begun to loathe the environment. They push and prod middle management along with frontline workers whilst offering no support. And don't dare disagree with one of them or their egos will crumble, and you'll be marked. At least one good thing comes from this, I'm now reevaluating my life, goals and searching for a different career. This company could be so much more if management got behind their team instead of prancing around barking orders and sending snarky emails. Even the poor pay would be just a bit easier to deal with if you had a strong leadership base.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in UPPER management professionalism and leadership training, as well as middle management. But trust me that its needed at the highest level per division.
Actually invest in real training, for all departments at the division level. This company has the poorest training program I've ever seen.

Stop justifying bad behavior because you proclaim the numbers "are good". Support middle management and your frontline. Stop referring to people as stupid, stop picking on people who disagree, stop communicating in emails like highschool children, stop trying to talk everyone into drinking the coolaid. Lead by example and be open to suggestions and feedback.

    Pros

Co- workers, health benefits. Weekends off(most of the time).

    Cons

Everything else. If you have worked for any other company you will soon find out they are one the worst companies out there. You work all holidays except Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years. The companies pays for little and expects you to pay any other misc-job related expenses. You work long hours(expect 10 hr) for the pay you receive is miniscule. Upper mgnt. couldn't give 2 craps about you. If you make a minor mistake, they expect you to fix it, even that requires you to drive 2 hours out of your way, rent a moving truck, or work on your days off. I am A LOT HEALTHER now if am gone . BEWARE!!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You either have people who are power-hungry narcissists or people who only care about the bottom line so you can collect your bonus. Until then the exodus will continue and you continue to bring in garbage

    dissapointing…..

    Pros

If you're looking for a job with a strong company with no regard for the individuals it employs then this is the company for you.

    Cons

Unnecessary stress and a lack of moral culture. Top management of this company either doesn't know what goes on at division level or doesn't care. I suspect the second after several insightful conversations with human resources in San Francisco. It's sad when a company has the potential to be great but misses the mark due to a few bad apples.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Now that your most talented employees have either elected early retirement or have left you for your competitors, maybe you'll wake up and find more value in the human beings that work for you. Stop paying your customers to continue to buy from you. It's a lot more expensive, it devalues your organization and it's highly illegal….

This is by far the worst place I've ever work for. Your better off working at Wal-Mart or McDonalds then this place.

Former Employee - Freezer Stocker in Wilkes-Barre, PA

    Pros

Pay (that is if your single, don't have any bills, have no kids, or any kind of outstanding payments)

    Cons

By far the worst company I've ever worked for. I worked 3rd shift as a freezer stocker. Oh man, where do I start? The work/life balance is awful. For over a month, I worked 9 P.M - 7:30 A.M 6 nights a week. On your only day off, forget about doing anything since you're so exhausted. The Management is garbage. It was me and two other people. One guy didn't even bother to work in the freezer like he was supposed to, he went out in the regular warehouse, so when it came 5:30, those two guys left and I was stuck picking up their slack. Forget about trying to get work done anyways. Each aisle was filled with pallets. What are you supposed to do here? I can't get to my picks, I can't move the pallets because it's freezer items so my space is limited. What does management say? do the best you can. Great Management.

All the other shifts would overlap each other, people and pallets were everywhere so it was nearly impossible to do anything. Forget about driving a forklift through there.

Speaking of fork lifts, need a battery change? be ready to wait up to two hours. All the people certified to change a battery never wanted to do it. This was a nightly ritual for me.

Overall Core-Mark is a horrible place to work for. After 3 months of torture, I finally said "forget it" and took my chances and never went back. I found a different job the following week and my life has never been better.

Avoid Core-mark like the plague. Management doesn't know how to manage. It's un organized, the people are always in a bad mood (who blames them?) it's just not a fun experience. I left Wal-Mart to go work at Core'-mark and by the 3rd week I regretted it. If your company is so bad that it makes you regret leaving Wal-Mart, then you know you have problems.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nothing. I really hope this company goes out of business and the unfortunate employees there find a better job.

    Cons

Far to few employees to keep up with the competition and the workload

    Pros

pay- you can actually live off it, if your single...

fellow employees- by far one of the coolest staff i have worked with, maybe 1 or 2 sour apples but other then that it was fun.

benefits - decent benefits, company parties etc

    Cons

hours - horrible work life balance, I started developing severe depression from not seeing my friends or family due to my over night hours. i was only supposed to work til 1am but usually got out by 3:30 am or later every night

work environment- seemed very dangerous, injuries were not uncommon, safety training is basically worthless here.

management- work you to exhaustion, you'll put in 12 hours a night of heavy lifting 5 nights a week. by the time your days off come you are to beat to even savor them. I was punished for getting hurt by being over worked, My supervisor decided after the first 8 hours of my shift there would be no breaks during overtime. so I would work straight for 4+ hours of heavy lifting after the initial shift ended (im sure slaves were treated better)

turnover - very rarely do people even stay. they burn out, or are let go because they can not hit the insane targets that the company has laid out. news flash coremark, if 90% of newbies cant hit your numbers its probably something wrong with you. I hit mine but was let go after i was cleared after my injury, so to me this company is scum

if you are a person looking for work, I would keep looking and not stop here, its a miserable place to work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

quit skimming on staff, You expect an understaffed facility of 8 to handle the work of 12-15 men in a 8 hour period then complain when they require OT, even when they are exceeding their requirements.

pay really is to low for the labor involved, im sorry but with your profit margins you can do way better.

the fact you dropped me 2 days after i was cleared after i pulled a muscle on the job shows me you are horrible human beings. try caring about people especially when they bust their butt for you.

    Pros

Because of the demands they put on their Sales force you will develope into a really good Salesperson.
    Allot of programs to sell.
They are growing by allot since they are buying up other Wholesalers.
Not bad the pricing for customers.

    Cons

Stress, stress, stress and more stress as a Salesperson
Management never wants to know the reasons something cannot or shouldn't be done. Management doesn't use common sense. It's all about the bottom line.
Always trying to take advantage of the customer.

    Pros

Really are no pros with this company, the only thing good that comes to mind about this place is getting to quit it.

    Cons

back breaking work with no appreciation from management, will over work you, they do not care about rules and regulations set forth to protect employees.Drivers are told to work longer than the allowed amount of time set forth in DOT rules, they simply don't care about you.Avoid this place like the plaque.Ever wonder why they are always hiring????

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

your employees are the base in your company, when you spit in the face of your employees you are weaking the base of your company and will never have a good solid foundation for which a good, successful company has.Get back to basics ,and get your heads out of your asses.

    Pros

    Very nice people work there.

They have allot of programs and products to sell their customers compared to the competitors.

    Cons

For the Sales team in Pennsylvania it's always stressful everyday of the week.

The PA division is set up where the Outside Sales team gets little support from the operational depts.

They are trying to tell the customer what is good for them.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

To the President and Sales Manager in Pennsylvania is:

There is more than one way to get results. You do get results but it is the wrong way. Your way puts an unbelievable amount of stress on your Sales team and their lives. You could increase your yearly sales if you just would listen to your Sales team. 2 years ago you had a great group of guys selling for you. Allot of those guys left. Why?
