    Pros

There is nothing positive about this place.

Unless that is, you like working with 30+ year olds that act like teenagers.

    Cons

Management is horrible. Other employees are horrible as well. Hours are ridiculous. Lacks in team effort and support.

Management doesn't keep employee/management conversations to the office. They tell other employees within MINUTES!

Force you to work overtime more than 3 days in a row per week or they will threaten you with your job.

    Horrible working conditions/environment.

Do not pay enough in the freezer/cooler for the brutal work and conditions.

    Advice to Management

If a company values their employees they are more than likely to stay and save you time from looking for more employees every week.

You lie about "occasional overtime" when it's actually constant and forced even after your job is completed.

    Pros

None. Working at SF HQ is a joke. You walk in the front door and 1987 greats you. Everything from the decor, technology and management is stuck in the past. Work stations have outdated technology, office furniture is broken, old, dirty and you will not be allowed to get it replaced. CMI pays about 10 - 20% below market, has a revolving door at the non-management level.

This is a company that makes less than 1% margin. Don't be fooled by the fact its a $11Bil company. They distribute smokes and candy.

Company is very lean and will not give anything back to employees, no matter what you hear in the recruiting process.

They do have a nice view of SF Bay and Benefits are very good.

    Cons

Oh, did you read above and see the Pro's? The list of Con's is too long to list.

You will be asked/ forced to work exceptional hours and then given more work regardless because there's no one else to do it.

    Advice to Management

Get with the times and stop protecting your own backsides. Or move the HQ to another location where you can be an top employer b/c that will never happen in the Bay Area with the working conditions and pay.

    Pros

    You're off on weekends, always.

    Cons

Overworked and underpaid. Management and supervision is a joke. Don't me started on the way the trucks are loaded, I don't have enough space in this box to write it all down.

    Advice to Management

Stop neglecting the job that you were hired to do. The department is suffering behind your lackadaisical, non-involvement attitudes.

    Cons

Horrible schedules that change on a dime, forcing you to work illegal, no way to have a life or a family, volatile management, everything promised to you is a lie, can't keep employees

    Advice to Management

Start treating your workers like people not slaves

    Pros

You will have a place to go to work. If you don't have a life outside of work you may like this place.

    Cons

They don't care about your hours of service they just want you to deliver product. Say its mandatory to take a lunch but they don't want you to take one. Every week they come up with some new rule. Change your schedule when they feel like it and the play with your money come pay day, will tell you its mistake but continue doing this mistake.

    Advice to Management

Stop sitting around thinking of ways to screw over your drivers and try to come up with ideas ways to help them. Like manageable routes for better home time, better pay, less paper work to cut down on time and less bs.

    Pros

The only good thing about that place was they had new tractors that's it.

    Cons

Management sucked they had the slightest clue what was going on out on the road, the pay was crap the lumpers who make a little about minimum wage were making a lot more then the drivers and the drivers had 20x the amount of responsibility, core-mark takes customers over employees and freight over employees. With the amount of hours you work you could make more money flipping burgers. They like to run the driver illegal by making them go into sleeper birth but work the whole time tell your co driver is out of hours so you work 22+ hrs at a time. For the ones who are to blinded to see it but core-mark pays you on a sliding scale per mile so you make nothing.. I would not recommend this place on my worst enemy.. I'm glad I got out of there and went to do line haul where I'm home every night making 80k a year. Core-mark makes it sound good in the hiring and interview to sucker you into there crap work with there crap pay.

There are none. There are none. There are none. There are none. There are none. There are none. There are none.

    Cons

They have been sued numerous times for multiple illegal infractions. Nepotism runs rampant within this organization. Drug use among Core-Mark employees is a wide-spread problem. My only advice is to stay away from this company

    Pros

Weekends off! BONUS at the end of the year.

    Cons

Mangers are always hovering and checking your every move on their computer system. As soon as you do something wrong they call you on the spot. Spying on you by the computer to see your speed limit, time windows and stuff even though you don't get paid by the hour you still have to wait for the time windows. Management makes it very hard for the employees to do their work with all their micromanaging. If only they put in that much effort to make our jobs easier and not harder!

    Advice to Management

Just let the drivers do their job and that's it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's a one-sided road, so if you aren't willing to brown nose, then there's no chance to get promoted to a better position!

    Pros

    The benefits were just ok.

    Cons

It was like squeezing water out of a rock! I did everything right, customers adored me. But since I was not willing to kiss anybody's butt, then I had no chance of getting promoted. Between not enough equipment & unhappy customers, this company is getting 1 star, really they deserve zero stars because all the people who are in charge have no inclination as to what they are doing. This is the worst company I've ever worked for! I mean put a bunch of monkeys in charge & they'd do a much better job! I just can't believe they've been around over 100 years, it just blows my mind.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of all in charge & put some new people in there that know what they're doing. And stop promoting people into management positions just because they're good close friends/relatives of someone else who already works there. Because when you do this, it shows that "it's not about knowledge, experience or hard work. But about who you know". And that's the worst way you can run a company! Why do you think there's such a high turn over rate? Oh just one last thing. Do more for your employees other than a once a year Knott's Berry Farm picnic to show your appreciation for them.

    Pros

co-workers whom have stuck around with no bonuses, no incentives, no back-bone to search for their own job.

    Cons

100+ year old company, with similar policies, attitudes, and ages of management. Zero-training, high level of unprofessionaism, most manager/execs would not be hired at any other company due to lack of actual management skills. Moved on up to their positions by sticking around. Pay is sub-par.
Penny-pincher with zero budget, running a bare-bones operation, while the incompetent execs and upper management collect salaries and stock options.
You CANNOT put overtime even though you will work it, they will not pay.

    Advice to Management

New execs/management that are actually well-educated and under 50
    proper training
better treatment of employees rather than seem like a burden
    its not 1888 its 2014!!
