Sinking Ship

Regional Support (Former Employee)

I worked at Corinthian Colleges full-time for more than 5 years

ProsPeople at the Campus level truely care about the students and want to see them succeed.

ConsThe company has consistently had two rounds of lay-offs every year for the past 5 years I have worked there. Due to constant lawsuits and Government scruitiny, Corinthian Colleges will continue to lose ground in the market and all signs point to an acquisition or bankruptcy in the near future.

Advice to Senior ManagementToo late for advice, you guys are screwed.

Unappreciated, overworked and demoralizing experience at Corinthian College.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Corinthian Colleges full-time for more than 10 years

ProsGood medical and dental options, decent pay though with no raises for over 3 years even with a top work review. Great co workers who truly care about the students and go out of their way to assist in any way they can.

ConsUnethical practices by this company. Corrupt Corperate Management who could care less for the workers at the ground campuses. Multi million dollar corporate sales driven Parthenon celebration every year while laying of hundreds and hundreds of workers. Enrolling students who are a very high risk to pay back loans in the $18,000 to 30,000 range when they don't even have money to take public transportation to get to school.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake a good look at your ground level schools before you implement massive layoffs to see how it will affect the school as a whole instead of solely looking at numbers. Reward your outstanding employees who hav been with you for many years and are doing the jobs of 3 or more people.

Moderate morale at ground schools; however Online has challenges

Management (Former Employee)
Tampa, FL

I worked at Corinthian Colleges full-time for more than 8 years

ProsGood benefits with moderate pay rate in comparison to the for profit education industry. Ground schools have a sensible level of morale. They have campuses nation wide which allows more open job opportunities.

ConsOverall there is low job security. Online there is no work/life balance due to working very late shifts, Sundays and Saturdays. Online has lay offs approximately every 3-4months. Ground schools are closing at a rapid rate.

Advice to Senior ManagementConsider changing the schedules and hours of operation.

It was an eight month nightmare of compromised values, abuse, pressure to sell programs that didn't even exist.

Admissions Representative (Former Employee)
Norcross, GA

I worked at Corinthian Colleges full-time

ProsOther admission representatives were open and friendly.

ConsAbusive talk from managers, silly meetings and cheerleading sessions, no hope of promotion for anyone under the age of 25 so they would be too naive to know how an actual business/school runs. Working overtime and then not being paid for it.

Advice to Senior ManagementClose your doors. Looks like it is going to happen anyway.

Horrible management and shady hiring

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Santa Ana, CA

I have been working at Corinthian Colleges full-time for more than 3 years

ProsPay and benefits are decent

ConsIt's all about who you know in the company. All upper management staff hire friends and colleagues to work for the company. It doesn't matter if you apply, if the directors have a friend who wants to work for the company, you won't be chosen. Constant struggle to find direction and guidance from upper management. And when things go wrong, they throw you under the bus and blame everything on you. Cocky directors and VPs who have no idea how to run a company. RUN AWAY! Do not apply to work here!

Advice to Senior ManagementCommunicate FROM THE BEGINNING! Don't make promises that you can't keep. And when something goes wrong, HELP US so we can correct it the mistake to prevent it from happening again.

I worked at Corinthian Colleges part-time for more than a year

ProsPay and you do get a chance to help people

ConsUpper management is ONLY out to push the stock price

Advice to Senior ManagementStop losing good presidents that think for themselves and act on the good of the school and stop bringing presidents that are useless puppets.

Finance Counselor

Student Finance Planner (Former Employee)
Tempe, AZ

I worked at Corinthian Colleges full-time for less than a year

ProsGreat coffee machine, & low price snacks

ConsHorrible management/training. No communication, written up for being late 2 times in training due to traffic, yet they were not utilizing a tracking system to record our time when we clocked in & out of work. This was just done by hearsay. I was put on a final written warning & if I was late again, I would be fired. After meeting w/ my "manager" of less than 4 months, I simply thanked them for the opportunity & left. Do not work for this company!

Advice to Senior ManagementDon't only promote the people who are good at their position, because this doesn't mean they have the skill-set to manage other people in a team environment.
