    Pros

The pay is good for the area, supervisors are knowledgeable and willing to answer questions freely. The work environment is safe for a prison, with experienced and knowledgeable staff.

    Cons

Hours can be long, breaks are not given, training doesn't fully prepare you for the prison environment, so it's sink or swim.

    Advice to Management

Response team training is great, and should be directly after the orientation week with weapon certs (OC, SIMS, Pepperball) added that week. The company should adopt an FTO program to better prepare cadets for their on the job training.

Great company with an emphasis on taking care of the employees.

    Cons

The mandatory overtime was overwhelming and required more of my time than I was willing to give.

    Pros

Benefits, upward mobility for security staff, process of grievances and investigations were streamlined. Pre-service and in-service training was very thorough with regards to policies, procedures and safety issues. Training staff was very knowledgeable.

    Cons

Changes in legislation sometimes changed the different company benefits. We had to go through a shift schedule change once we were awarded a contract. Prison was eventually closed down and a lot of staff members were left unemployed without any severance.

    Pros

Great Life/Work balance. Telecommuting available. Excellent salary and benefits. People is friendly and approachable

    Cons

Some members of the IT management team are very difficult to work with, they tend to micromanage and retaliate if you call them on their mistakes.

    Pros

I loved my job at Saguaro Correctional Center. I learned a lot during my almost 7 years. Self discipline and patience were the best and somewhat most challenging for me.

    Cons

Management and other co-workers not working as a team. We're suppose to be more of a family and have each others backs 24/7

    Advice to Management

They should listen to their officers more. Show more support and encouragement. Let them know when they go above and beyond their job performance.

    Pros

Upgrades at the facility are always happening. The Upper management can always be accessed.

    Cons

Benefits are standard for this Industry. The feeling there is a lack of backup is frustrating.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be more mandatory physical training for the staff some of the guards are way out of shape to do the job. Change the uniforms to BDU's for the guards.Restrict the movement of the Inmates on the yard. Place more officers in the Pods to ensure the safety of the staff and Inmates also there needs to be more guards patrolling the outside of the wire, and place stationary guards in the problems areas outside the wire. There should be a constant reactionary unit placed at each and everyone of the facilities The company needs to actively recruit more military Veterans, because the mindset is different from non-military individuals.
