    Pros

    The company has an overall pretty relaxed atmosphere. Unlimited vacation time, unlimited sick time, not very strict work from home rules, flexible hours, free lunch, snacks, drinks, etc. Pretty much the usual for a company in Silicon Valley/Bay Area.

    Cons

    Absolutely no personal growth or development. What's worse, employees are vocal about wanting to grow and at the very least be developed into a stronger individual contributor/employee but management just wants their employees to shove their heads into their computer screens and work work work. What makes things EVEN WORSE is that management knows about morale issues but haven't made any effort to make things better. They may have a couple of meetings to make plans about how they can make things better but after the meeting it's like the meeting never happened. Management follows up and focuses on the absolute wrong things and has no idea what their employees do day to day. There are current individual contributors who can help turn things around and these are the individuals that need to be in management roles, people that are well respected amongst their peers, focuses on motivating team members, and can develop others into stronger employees.

    Advice to Management

    There's too much corporate politics and it's led by management! Open your eyes management or you're going to lose all your top talent!

    Pros

    Lots of perks like other hi-tech companies like free shuttle, free lunch, etc. Generally everyone is very friendly and social.

    Cons

    There is no career development for many employees. They don't value loyalty. Company does not encourage to hire within. Upper management turns a blind eye to the high turnover rate. People get let go and there are no announcements

    Advice to Management

    Inspect teams with high turnover, focus on career development, encourage work/life balance, discourage secrecy

    Pros

    The people you work with are great. Everyone is very friendly and fun. Free lunch every day.

    Cons

    Management has their favorites and everyone else gets shown no appreciation and worked to the bone. High stress environment. Lots of politics and biases.

    Treat everyone equally.

    Pros

    Company has a good product, and is well positioned for growth where there is potential. Location is good, if you live on the peninsula. Free lunch and food every day is a nice perk. Benefits are good. Depending on the position and department you work it can be positive environment.

    Cons

    Rapid growth in it's first 2-3 years created arrogance in management, and the belief that the growth potential was a slam dunk. Coupons Inc is the market leader in the online printable coupon space, reach is broad, and thousands of sites have their white-label content. However, the company is still struggling with positioning and how to move to the next level. Their revenue is only sufficient to sustain a company of about 50 people. Big problems are on the horizon, therefore it's not a stable place of employment any longer. Nor, is it a place to learn or grow.

    Management seems lost regarding what the next steps should be. There is no clear vision relayed to the employees. And, several layoffs were the result.

    Advice to Management

    Hire new mid-level management in product development, and marketing with more creativity to drive innovation. Promote personnel in all departments based purely on results.

    Sr. Management cares only about revenues and could care less about culture and employee morale making the environment prone to high turnover, functional silos, politics, and bad behavior. Unfortunately, some of the "valued" employees are young and impressionable giving way to high school type behaviors that would never be condoned as professional or simple human courtesy. There is a complete lack of communication or any transparency from Sr. management and they like it that way. Politics is extremely prevalent between the departments and often times you find yourself fighting against one another to get anything accomplished. This is not a "start-up" mentality here as it's been around for 10+years so there is a lot of dead wood walking around who are against any change (like management). Overall, it's not a good place to be for a long time or even at all. Don't be lured by the glamour of equity since it's obvious management wants to keep it just the way it is.
