    Serious Problem on your hands

    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee
    Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

    I worked at Cox Communications

    Pros

Not a whole lot good to say about this as, you do not value good quality service to your customers on or off the field.

    Cons

    1. Stop pushing the major sales, when the customer call in for help . Let The techs do their jobs in attempting to resolve the issues first. Leave the major sales as an option if the customer can't afford say a new modem offer the phone then. Let the Tech judge the tone of the call an offer the sale or service appropriate to the call not just to make money for the company. Let the main sale in tech support be the upgrade cts, and such that would enhance or fix the service not further aggravate the situation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

1 reopen your call centers biggest complaint is hold time and tech take a beating over something that is not their fault- bad move on your part.
2 Get Back to quality customer service and pride in it and being real. Customers know the difference.
Customer remark is their junk don't work why would i want to by more junk- dissatisfaction is growing.
3 Hold field techs responsible to for customer interaction.
    4. Let the tech do their jobs and restore customers opinions of cox. By the way I happen to know of outsourced techs that were lied to saying it was not a sales job
    5. Your poor techs are cought between you and the customers and customer will argue w ith them not thinking they are feeding them excuses you tell them to say example when brooad caster premepts shows and it doesn't match the guide.

I worked at Cox Communications full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I honestly can not think of any other than a constant paycheck and they offer benefits. Really that is it.

    Cons

    MASSIVE LAYOFFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    Lies from Upper Management.
Forget about advancement they would rather hire from outside rather than promote from within.
CEO is completely clueless, when told want department does, just stood there with a blank deer in the headlights look then was hurried along to next destination.
Company kept changing bonus plan year after year after year until they finally did away with it. Now if they give you a gift card or some token of appreciation they have you fill out paperwork to charge taxes on it.
At one time was a good company to work for, but no more.
May be a place to gain experience then move on, but don't plan on making a career here.

    Pros

Meeting new people, and building new relationship outside of the company

    Cons

Where do i start the company lacks and so many areas
Training was very sub par we all understand the call center has many changes but make your employees aware of them
The place is all base on who's in the inner circles there isn't any real room for growth.
Cox is also a revolving door doesn't matter what the customer issues are their looking to up sale
I wouldn't recommend anyone work there also the management do not work with their rep on helping them become better they only speak with them when their almost out the door.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get back to being a family business because they are on the path of being out of business

Current Employee - Universal Home Technician Expert in Rancho Santa Margarita, CA

I have been working at Cox Communications full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Best reasons for working here: it is close to home, pays the bills & I have been here over 15 years. Benefits are above average, but honestly there is little more than that. Cox knows jobs are hard to find & they use that against you.

    Cons

CONS: where do you start? Management, Management, Management...... This company was the leader 20 years ago, they operated locally under a national umbrella, we were given the opportunity to deliver customized service to our unique customer base. We were treated as people NOT numbers, there was a "Family" aura about how business was conducted with the Customer first approach & Employee 2nd which is how the business thrived. Now it is "said" to be Customer first but the lack of good management direction & decision has shown the product does not have the "Customer first" reaction.
I am in the field & a highly experienced technician. This product is put out with the knowledge it is below par & problematic. The attitude of "quantity over quality" has decimated this company. Employees are now just numbers & customers are the guinea pig. Netfilx is taking customer base when we could easily offered a "on demand" monthly download what ever you want product vs. $4-10 per event!
Management does not care to treat us as people, just numbers, using the excuse "it comes from corporate". The company has out sourced the jobs to non-Cox CSR's who do not care how they treat the customer, they are constantly trying to put people on written warnings to lower their pay or scare them away from speaking up.
This company will soon be bought out & upper management personnel will get their "golden paracute" while the hard working people who want to earn an honest dollar are left out.
Look @ the multiple CEO's, they went from family members @ the top to cutthroats.
We used to have employee appreciation days, picnics, holiday parties, product launches, etc......

Any company who has: A Customer base with the income of San Diego, Orange County, Palos Verdes, Santa Barbara & cannot make money is obviously in the wrong business or runs it just like the Government & milks what they can then leave the carcass to rot!
I used to love my job, but you can only love something so much when it does not love you back, very disappointed. This was once a top shelf company, but this is what you get when you hire based on who's your buddy not who's best for the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get all new people & understand these are people you are treating like this, you have eliminated over 700 jobs just on the west coast! This is a sinking ship & YOU HOULS BE ASHAMED TO HAVE AFFECTED SO MANY LIVES that you didn't need to if you make better decisions & slow your greed!

I worked at Cox Communications full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Back 2007-2009 Cox was a family company

    Cons

They work you like a dog. If you ever want to take back a previous job expect the starting salary. Tenure means nothing. All I asked for after 7 years was a consistent schedule. I exceeded goals made MVP and many other awards but at the end of the day it never got me the schedule I wanted or the money I think I was worth. They need a union

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Allow union into your business. Allow tenure to mean more especially for the ones still exceeding your expectations. Tell the truth when you lay off 200 employees in Kansas. You lost me forever as an employee and a customer.

    Pros

Good pay, fair benefits, nice office environment. Nothing else.

    Cons

    Poor technology management. Process chaos.
    Cognizant-occupied (vendor) organization.
Majority of experienced IT veterans left this company voluntarily or fired.
I will not be surprised if company loose its segment of market in next few years.

    Pros

Guaranteed pay for 3 months...there is nothing positive to say about this terrible company

    Cons

This could go on for awhile..... no guidance out of training. The entire 6 week process is to learn a dos like sales system which should have put out of comission years ago, with no training what so ever on product knowledge why cox is better than the competition ..you know things a sales person is supposed to know. When you get to the floor expect to never leave your desk without being told to get back on the phones and take 190 calls a day that have nothing to do with sales. This company could care less with what's good for the customer...they actively teach you to never give the customer an active discount and over charge all the time. The management team literally has no idea what's going on from one minute to the next. There is no support system for the new hires and talk down to you when you ask for assistance.... I said this could go for awhile...do yourself a favor and work anywhere else....don't say you weren't warned.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat your new hires better and profile them the guidance they need to be successful. Don't throw them right on the phones to ease the numerous calls you have because you closed 5 centers. People need to be guided and trained properly
