Very good experience as a consultant on several projects over last several years.

I have been working at Cox Media Group as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

Smart managers, open to new ideas. High quality of communication. Good cooperation from every employee involved in the research, exercise or training program. Company clearly sets high standards for professionalism from everyone. Have kept in touch with several for networking and mentoring; and happy to do so.

    Cons

60-90 days turnaround time on payment. So high up-front investment.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I was impressed to hear - and see - commitment to development of staff and their career opportunities. Also, this company is giving more than lip service to work-life balance.

    Pros

The company invests in the tools the sales people need to win! They do a lot of hiring from within which is always a plus if you want advancement. Benefits are great.

    Cons

Nothing stands out as something that can't be expected with working with a growing company. Lots of changes, but all for growth opportunities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to fight for your sales reps.

I have been working at Cox Media Group full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Pension plan is the best benefit they have. They have a fully funded pension plan you don't have to pay into. You get vested after five years of employment. Medical and dental coverage reasonable and good. If an employee has a problem such as an unforseen medical condition or life event the company actually helps out emotionally and financially.

    Cons

Management needs to listen more to employeees and get rid of the politics of the job.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Not much, just listen to employees and get rid of employees who are taking up space and not doing their job.

    Pros

Family like enviornment - positive culture
    Training opportunities
Collaborative growth & training across different platforms
    Great benefits
    Strong leadership
Media is fun and fast paced

    Cons

I don't have anything bad to say about this company. Its unfortunate that some didn't see growth opportunities in their places. I found that if you are willing to work hard and put in some time, learn the business and are somewhat ambitious, the opportunities are there.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I love the culture and I think the company is moving in the right direction.

I worked at Cox Media Group part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Amazing people, fantastic atmosphere, really awesome perks, and free green room concerts!

    Cons

The pace is beyond hectic, and sometimes things get missed - it can take a while to hear back from management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Make sure to follow up on communication. It can be discouraging to be told how important you are to the team, and then be ignored when you send an email repeatedly.

    Pros

Great benefits with a small, personal touch. It has the best combination of a large company with a small business atmosphere.

    Cons

The company is not big enough to absorb too many risks. It is hard to cut failed programs, but that is a downfall of taking risks.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep doing what you are doing. The plan works even though it has growing pains.

Former Employee - I Intern in Dayton, OH

I worked at Cox Media Group

    Pros

Good working environment. People at the company valued the opinions of interns just like another employee. Overal, it was a good choice to work.

    Cons

Pay wasn't that great. Too many bosses to report to. Company seemed disorganized at times with their agendas. Not too bad though.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

They should have more of an inclusive management style that has an open door policy. Sometimes I had no clue what a going on in the firm.
