Former Employee – worked at CryoLife full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Okay insurance, good fellow employees. Decent snack machines. Nice diningroom. Pretty trees in the parking lot. pretty flowers and landscaping.
Cons – Management from supervisor all the way to the top. Supervisors are so worried about someone advancing they will fabricate issues that are not true and will write you up for them and force you to sign. They will lay out goals for promotion and when you accomplish those goals, they will claim you have not made them even though you have the proof and will put you back at the beginning again to avoid your promotion. The next level up of management claims to have an open door policy but when you go to them they immediately take the side of the person you have having issues with before even hearing the issue and will send you back to the original person. They refuse to let people they don't like even attempt to transfer departments. Ten hour days turn into 12-14 hour days on a regular basis and if you say you have another commitment (like a day care center about to close) they will bully and harrass you and basically hold you hostage.
Advice to Senior Management – Listen to the employees, not to your supervisors. Pay attention to what is going on. I have been gone from the company for a few years now but am still friends with many people I worked with there and I know from them that the situation has not improved, if anything it has gotten worse.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Current Employee – been working at CryoLife full-time
Pros – Nice, clean office
The paychecks don't bounce.
Cons – Rules and regulations, intimidation, bullied, overworked, no work-life balance.
They regulate EVERYTHING. Down to what what kind of pen you can use (ink only, not gel), how many pictures you can have on your desk (1 only), you cannot eat anything at your desk, and you must pour all drinks in a styrofoam cup WITH a lid, as if you are 2 years old. You are not allowed post-it notes or white-out. Those are just some of the ridiculous rules. Management rules by intimidation. Do not question them or their hand-selected favorites or you will be blacklisted for life. Most employees have been there 15+ years. Meaning no new ideas or change. Doing anything differently than how they've been doing it for a hundred years is seriously frowned upon. You will be viewed as crazy if you make any kind of suggestion to do something better or more efficiently. I honestly wish I never took this job. Worst place I've ever worked in my life.
Advice to Senior Management – Treat your employees like people, not machines. Try looking at your employees in the eye instead of avoiding them at all costs. We work hard and would like that remembered once in a while instead of being treated like dirt under your shoe.

Former Employee – worked at CryoLife
Pros – The ONE good thing about Cryolife Inc. is that despite the cons you know that ultimately you're doing something honorable.
Cons – Every department is underemployed and while everyone is aware of the issue no steps have been initiated to improve this issue. There is a constant need of staffing and the salaries offered to employees are minuscule in comparison to many other biotech companies in the Atlanta area. The company seems to play on recent college grads in hope of tedious and extensive amounts of work while only paying slightly more than your average pizza-delivery guy. Overtime is a must and occurs daily for most departments. The perks that once would draw people to CryoLife have now dissipated. Sick days are scorned upon and don't think about a balance of work and life. Here, work WILL be your life.
Advice to Senior Management – Management would be a lot better if ANY of those who fill these spots actually had any managerial training. Most in supervisory roles have moved up in the company and have no form of traditional training in leading and motivating people. There are constant power struggles and it is obvious that the higher up the chain you get the amount of work accomplished lessens.

Former Employee – worked at CryoLife
Pros – They will pay you if you need a job.
Cons – No corporate goals. Managers are busy spying on their employees because there is relatively little going on otherwise.
Advice to Senior Management – Most senior staff make upwards of 400k per year. None of them earn it.
