This was a great place to work with a supportive corporate team.

Crew Chief (Former Employee) Plymouth, WI

ProsGreat atmosphere and stress on employee well-being.
Corporate office visited several times annually to check the work environment with random employees.
    Promote-from-within philosophy

ConsTypical fast food hours made for some spoiled weekends that I didn't want to be at work, but I think that is difficult to classify as a 'Con' for a high school job.

    A spectacular first job.

Crew Member (Former Employee) Neenah, WI

ProsWorking at Culver's taught me how to be genuinely polite and courteous to customers as well as coworkers-a valuable skill I've brought into every job I've worked since. It was a fun environment. The team consisted of mostly high school and college-age students as well as a few full time adult employees. Management was great. I worked there in high school and it was a great job that I look back on fondly!

ConsRaises were very small and it is the only place I have worked at so far that starts you at minimum wage.

    Advice to Senior ManagementMore incentives.

Crew Trainer (Former Employee) Minneapolis, MN

ProsGreat environment, Great Team, The core value of the culvers name is true and was something to believe in. Customer interaction

ConsThere wasn't much for cons that i can speak of. Everything in my position was great,

Advice to Senior ManagementSince we were a pilot store we had the Craig stop in on occasion just to say hi. The way Culvers was ran (can't speak of it now during current times due to lack of experience) was great. Being part of the owner operator part was fantastic and taught me a lot.

    Enjoyed my time there.

Assistant Manager (Former Employee) Morton Grove, IL

ProsThe atmosphere is usually fast pace and stressful at times which I enjoyed, but not all people will. Working as a store manager the work-life balance can be difficult especially when you get called in on your days off. Working while being a student, they were always flexible with hours.

ConsManagers usually do not get paid what they deserve for the amount of work and what is expected of them.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not push the lower managers so hard they do not get paid enough.

Like every job, it's what you make of it!

    Restaurant Manager (Current Employee)

ProsI work for an absolutely FANTASTIC franchisee! They really encourage the Culver's culture, and they take pride in the brand. They're supportive, and I've felt a lot of leeway to lead in the direction I feel appropriate. If you run a good business that's a community player and aren't afraid to maintain standards (even when it's difficult), the business can flourish. Having checked comparable jobs and salaries, I feel well-compensated for what I do.

ConsLike every customer service job, it's how well you handle yourself with people. Remember that no one promised you a rose garden in life, and some guests feel over-entitled. For my job in particular, I occasionally feel like the Owner/Operator I work for either isn't interested in or doesn't know how to teach me how to grow my skills. I've had to spearhead a lot of my own training - which isn't terrible, as it's available to me. Time is the sacrifice one makes in a restaurant or retail job, so while I fantasize about a 9-5 Monday-through-Friday job, the reality is that evenings and weekends are something one can count on. Work/life balance is entirely up to you.

Advice to Senior ManagementIf you want your business to grow, you need to water it. Always be on the lookout for the best team you can put together, and teach people how not only to manage a business, but manage their time so they don't get overwhelmed.
