I have been working at Curtiss-Wright Controls as a contractor

    Pros

It is difficult to find pros for this company. If I had to say one thing, they have free coffee, but of course they stopped providing cups.

    Cons

Too many changes occur with the projects, nothing seems organized. Project milestones are always late because of these changes. Their "training" occurs only after you have already been taught informally by coworkers. Employees are not paid for holidays.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Provide more motivation for employees to work harder.

I worked at Curtiss-Wright Controls full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

They promoted the workplace as a "family unit." All of the workers were friendly and the atmosphere promoted solidarity. Everyone worked well together and there seemed to be a general feeling of pleasantness in the workplace.

    Cons

The upper management lacked a clear vision and micromanagement was a huge concern. Due to obvious favoritism, there was some animosity between certain departments. This also contributed to certain individuals who were not necessarily qualified for certain jobs being promoted into positions that they couldn't perform.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire the right person for the right job and micromanagement will not become an issue. Try to avoid very obvious favoritism.

    I worked at Curtiss-Wright Controls

    Pros

The engineers and technician are good to work with

    Cons

The management is incompetent and the workload at times is not reasonable.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Very top heavy. Do you really need 5 levels of management for a handful of engineers?

I have been working at Curtiss-Wright Controls

    Pros

The products are Interesting and the worker try to overcome the management short coming by working harder and longer.

    Cons

Management lacks accountability, which permeates to the lower management and employees. The company has many silos between departments and within departments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management should be interested in doing what is in the best interest of both the company and employees not what is best for personal interests. Eliminate the department and inter-department silos. Provide an environment for open and honest communication.

I have been working at Curtiss-Wright Controls full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Immediate co-workers and I guess great if you're a shareholder.

    Cons

Organisation tends to be run by management that don't understand the industry in which the company operates. Constant drive for increased sales but continued failure to invest in product development or indeed staff development.

Silo culture where business units compete rather than collaborate.

Penny pinching/Indian giving outlook of senior management can lead to reduction in morale.

Whole thing is run on a shoestring with consistent micromanagement, overloading workers and lack of support. The projects get bid on and won but infrastructure to support it isn't put in place until the project is already late.

Very poor company ethics and low morals.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

I worked at Curtiss-Wright Controls full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Some nice people to work with, doing their best under pressure from senior management.
Pension plan better than other companies.

    Cons

Culture of just do as you are told, constantly under pressure from senior management to attain quarterly targets. Not keen on change or training.

    Doesn't Recommend

I worked at Curtiss-Wright Controls full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great benefit plans, health care, etc.

    Cons

Way too much process and phony milestones. Lots of metrics established from outside consultancy firms that were poor in determining real productivity and achievement.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Start using subjective goals to get real results, rather than gaming the system to get false results.

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
