Kept in the Dark until the plug is ready to be pulled.

Sales Representative (Former Employee) Atlas, MI

ProsGood knowledge-share within the company. Comp plan very aggressive with decent base. Flexible work environment. Product is superior to nearest competitor which makes it a good lead to sell services.

ConsPromised a lot of support but management never provided the tools needed to do the job. Money should be invested in marketing and growth but unfortunately, D&B is focused on protecting shareholders by reducing staff. Currently undergoing major restructuring and will continue to lose valuable people to competition.

Advice to Senior ManagementSenior management should give support by providing lead-gen tools in order for sales team to perform. Leaving your sales teams with no marketing budget nor warm leads will spell doom quickly, hence why new business is down and will continue to decline.

Not everybody's a winner in D&B's "winning culture".

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee) San Mateo, CA

ProsGreat namebrand recognition and a leader in the industry. Relatively stable stock price. There are also a lot of pretty experienced/intelligent associates amongst the ranks.

ConsPoorly defined roles and responsibilities make it difficult for people to get their jobs done. Extremely long hours for team members on the West Coast caught between offshore locations and New Jersey. Typical corporate politics with everybody trying to impress their boss, or point fingers to deflect blame.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo things to enable effective and efficient teamwork. Realize that past success has been on the backs of hard-working individuals who get things done despite the uncoordinated and factory-like mentality.

Great people, good pay, but no long-term vision.

Senior Product Director (Current Employee) Short Hills, NJ

ProsCo-workers are talented, motivated, team players, and generally nice.

ConsToo much of a focus on hitting quarterly revenue and operating income objectives, not enough focus on long-term investment, or what will best serve our customers. Has been and will continue to be a customer dissatisfier. Also, morale is down after series of layoffs, because everyone is working at their limit but it doesn't feel like senior management notices or cares.

Advice to Senior ManagementCustomers have to come before shareholders. We've been talking about this for years, but when push comes to shove, we cave into shareholders' interests every time.

Interesting work, great co-workers, but fear of job loss is the primary motivator applied by management

Sales Representative (Current Employee) Dallas, TX

ProsWork can be very interesting and many co-workers are top notch people. A 167 year old company with huge potential and a leadership position in business content gives you an edge in the marketplace.

ConsShort term focus; management by fear and decree; a decline in content quality caused by an almost solely automated content quality measurement process designed to tell management what they want to hear. The anwers you get depend on the way you ask the question; not necessarily the way clients experience the company.

Advice to Senior ManagementFocus more on long-term and people not just quarterly earnings. Recent happenings in the market show what happens when you don't think ahead and when you don't value the people who make you the money.
