I worked at DENSO as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

DENSO does value its employees as a person by promoting safety and and as a contributor by taking each employees input under consideration. Although at times the employees can feel overwhelmed and overworked, there are many opportunities and work that needs to get done there.
DENSO is a fairly typical manufacturing plant with many different types of manufacturing to offer, and they do promote you to specialize in a specific area.

    Cons

Many people at DENSO get frustrated under stressful conditions to fairly unproductive levels. Newer projects always have to go through a lot of scrutiny and pessimism. However, the older employees do not seem to stress as much during difficult times because they have been through many tough cycles and know that they will bounce back.

I have been working at DENSO full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

In the engineering group, managers are usually also engineers. Not someone with a business degree.
    Quality is #1.
Employees are used to the best of their capabilities.
    Stability

    Cons

    Quality is expensive against innovation.
60-80hrs a week is usually minimum.
Poor performers are not fired and only stagnate climbing slightly
History of promotion on age and seniority over skill

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Let go or demote poor performers
    Promote/acknoledge high performers

    Pros

Invests in employees through classes at Denso during normal business hours.

    Cons

As with most Japanese companies, change is very difficult to push through. Even when the business's environment requires it.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Increase independence from the Japanese headquarters. Increase engineering level pay to better compete with industry.

    I worked at DENSO

    Pros

They had great pay, I liked the majority of the people that I worked with, and they were pretty flexible if you wanted to move around the company and try different things.

    Cons

They expect you to put in a lot of time. I'm not sure how other departments handled it, but engineers would often have to burn the midnight oil.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The only thing I could think of is helping co-ops to get a better idea of the whole project that they are helping with. Sometimes it seems like everything done is rather ineffectual, and it would be nice to know what is going on.

    Cons

officially multinational company but in reality still very much japanese oriented. For over 15 years management tries to turn this around but obviously still have a long way to go.
