Cons

    Pros

Great to return working with a great bunch of diverse people who have a great attitude and company spirit. I've had such a warm reception from everyone.

    Cons

Getting reacquainted and learning all the new structures, policies, and evolutions that have taken place since I was last with the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue evangelizing our global brand and the wonderful training that has evolved for our employees. The training has been awesome and impressive!

    Pros

Good enough part time gig, with decent pay and a great benefits package (tuition reimbursement, health, 401k, etc), especially considering it's a part time job. Immediate supervisor was very accommodating and respectful, and coworkers were generally good.

    Cons

Definitely a job, not a career, to be a package sorter. The top-out pay scale at CVG is nowhere near what the workers from Wilmington were making. Plus like any night time job expect your sleep schedule to be screwed up. Watch for a certain short guy upstairs who is in middle management. And like any job demanding physical labor there's a lot of turnover.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on retaining qualified employees, even at the hourly laborer level

    Pros

Support and investment in the gold-standard DHL brand by Deutsche Post continues to bode well for the organization's global growth and expansion in most all facets of the supply-chain equation. It's a challenging and fast-paced work environment, yet old-fashioned teamwork and camaraderie between front-line staff and middle management gets amazing things accomplished, again and again. Grace under pressure is a benchmark for DHL employees.

    Cons

Vision and strategies within DHL business units often differs at a street-level versus what executive management touts. Ambiguous and conflicting messages frequently result in erratic synergy and missed opportunities providing clients with 'one-stop shopping' for all their global supply-chain needs. This frequently plays havoc with the consistency of expectations and results, for internal and external clients alike.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus on, and maximize the core strengths and competencies of the various DHL business units versus each trying to be everything to every client, which is redundant and counter productive.

    Pros

It was a very supportive friendly place to work. We had a great team at sales and lots of support from our supervisors.Supervisors tried their best and did great follow so that new hires can take on their new territories.

    Cons

Very call driven, I don't think the emphasis on the amount of calls is as necessary as the emphasis on closing a deal.

    Pros

Great company to work for. If you're just starting out in shipping and logistics this is the place to be. You will end up doing far more than your job description. While it could be a negative, it can actually help you by expanding your experience and skills in many areas beyond. I'm thankful for the experience.

    Cons

Management from the top executive branch down to higher levels and middle management were clueless on how to create and organic environment. It was far much more about egos and power and less about running a business operation successfully.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to your customers, listen to your people first and foremost. Identify the key areas and physical locations where quality is low and come up with real world solutions for improving the processes, the quality, the customers experience and seek to grow and innovate.

    Pros

Global reach and plenty of development opportunities. The company has good people development plan that when taken seriously can benefit employees and bring their knowledge and skills up.

    Cons

Shift changes, long hours. The nature of the work in this company is that it assumes shift work and sometimes often shift changes. Not easy to organize private life around.

    Pros

It was a pretty good job. Wide variety of responsibilities. Days flew by because we were busy.

    Cons

Left to run office operations often. The manager at our location was very unprofessional. She would leave for 2 hours and come back. Expected us to do a lot of her duties. We had horrible office supplies, desks falling apart etc. The station money was a bonus for the manager if it wasn't spent, so she kept it and we had unsafe working environments.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Follow up and closely manage the station managers.
