ConsJust overcoming objections and meeting goals. Nothing else really.

Fast-paced, high performing organization. Buckle up for a hectic ride. Delivery focused. Must compete for people's time.

Director (Current Employee) El Segundo, CA

ProsThere is no slack and low-performers are weeded out fairly quickly. That means that most everyone you work with is focused on getting the job done and they are good people to work with.

ConsThe pace can be difficult to maintain. Corners get cut in favor of quantity of delivery over quality of delivery, though high-quality is expected.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe programs that are thought to benefit employees by providing time to learn and grow really just add more overhead on already overloaded resources. Either get comfortable with dialing back delivery expectations or minimize time requirements for non job-related activities.

Inbound Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) Phoenix, AZ

ProsThe environment is pretty cool and they give you a lot of things to appreciate like free cable.

ConsSometimes the customers that you speak with can be very rude and ignorant

Very good company to work for

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee) Englewood, CO

ProsGood salary and decent annual bonus. Pension plan and 401k match (4%). Good insurance and free premium DirecTV service. Education assistance programs.

ConsIT group is lacking in internal service. From time to time can have long hours, but not really an issue in my opinion unless you are salary.

    Great company

Technical Support- DIRECTV (Former Employee) Englewood, CO

ProsThe company really cared about the employees. They did A LOT to show their appreciation. There was a lot of paid time off. I got two raises in one year. Every month there is a bonus so you end up making a lot more money then you expect. The product was great and employees are provided with a lot of training. The training covers product info and how to handle customers. You have a lot of room for creativity and employees are encouraged to share ideas. There was also a lot of opportunities to move up in the company. It wasn't a who you know company and you are able to succeed even if you didn't go to college. Many benefits. I would recommend working at Directv to anyone.

ConsThe customers were the only Con. They don't treat you very well over the phone.

    Great learning experience!

Advertising Sales Planner (Former Employee) New York, NY

ProsThis is a great company to work for straight out of college or change of career path. My work colleagues became my second family.

ConsPromotion. In order to move up the ladder someone had to leave.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement always had an open door policy.

A great place to learn and grow.

Customer Care Agent (Former Employee) Tulsa, OK

ProsDIRECTV has great benefits. This is the first thing that prospective employees see. But that is only the beginning of what DIRECTV can offer its employees. As a call center agent, they will learn communication skills, technical, billing, and sales skills. There are opportunities to advance as an agent, and move into more specialized parts of the company. Those that strive for success will be able to find their way into leadership rolls as a team leader. The skills learned as a team leader will go a long way towards future leadership and management roles.
DIRECTV taught me so much. For those who want to learn and grow, it is a great place to start.

ConsOnce you become a team leader, it is very difficult to get a management position. That is due to the large amount of competition from all of the team leaders that want to become managers. With the down economy, there is large number of experienced managers that are also applying for the jobs.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep looking for smart talented leaders to hire as team leaders and managers. Great leadership means a lot the employees. It may not seem that way, but it does matter.

Great company. If you have the chance to work for DIRECTV, do it!

Customer Service Representative (Former Employee) Hesperia, CA

ProsCompany was always asking how they can make their employees happy. The management was awesome. I could come to them for anything. My co-workers were amazing. Free Directv for employees, good benefits. Bonus's. Casual attire. Lots of activities going on.

ConsJust like any job, you have your good days, boring days and bad days. The only con that I can say at this point is they closed down a great office. I am disappointed that some ungrateful employees ruined it for all of us but at the same time, this is a business and the company needs to make money not lose it because of lazy people.

Advice to Senior ManagementBefore closing a branch, weed out the bad seeds and keep the good ones that really love coming to work. There are grateful employees that do their best for you every day. They should'nt have to lose their jobs because of some bad apples. There are plenty of people in the world that would be grateful to have a job and work for a great company like DIRECTV

    User Experience Intern

User Experience Designer (Former Employee) El Segundo, CA

ProsTraining: The team I worked with really brought me in from the very beginning. They had something for me to work on from day one and they did a really great job of making sure I knew the ins and outs of the user experience team.
The company also did a great job of connecting all the interns and held meetings where leaders of the company would explain their roles within DIRECTV.

ConsLos Angeles is an expensive place to live.

Advice to Senior ManagementTry connecting more with the interns and listen to what they have to say. I got the opportunity to sit down with many employees and leaders and talk about the industry and my career path.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
