Life with Dish

Commercial Project Manager (Former Employee)
Chicago, IL

I worked at DISH full-time for more than 10 years

ProsThe employees as a whole do blend together as a team family.

ConsEmployees are pushed as sales people and CSAT stats more than the credit of being good technicians. Other con is that as you get more years in and atain benefits you can easily be let go without real reason and replaced with a lesser paid less expierienced person for the budget. Budget is more important ant than the people. Personal experience

Advice to Senior ManagementStop giving your apprasals on a curve and actually credit where credit is due. Try to keep expirienced happy employees who have paid their dues. This company used to be family orientated with real moral boosters for the ones who actually helped build this company.

I worked for a subcontractor

Technician (Former Employee)
Angel Fire, NM

I worked at DISH full-time for more than a year

ProsWork was easy. Subcontractors are better to deal with then main company.

ConsThey don't care about how long it takes you to finish or how many obstacles you run into. They just want the job to get done.

Advice to Senior ManagementPut more effort into customer retention.

The job in itself isn't, its the nonsense that management puts you through that causes problems.

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at DISH full-time for less than a year

ProsThe independence is good, there isn't a supervisor hovering over your back micromanaging you.

ConsConstantly pressuring installation technicians to make sales. Overly critical of every metric. Management seems to be very dishonest in their everyday dealings with technicians.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement at Dish operate the way they do because senior management want them to operate that way. Change has to start at the very top, which seems unlikely, since to that person, the only thing that really matters is money.

Can't control your money.

Inside Sales Representative (Current Employee)
Littleton, CO

I have been working at DISH full-time for more than a year

ProsVery good commission. This job offers the best commission in the pay TV sector for inside sales. Very innovative company and very well grounded as a company

ConsHorrible hours, you have to threaten to quit in order to get a better schedule. They call it paid vacation, but you make absolutely no money when you take a couple days off for vacation.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet new management.

A company that has progressed tremendously the last couple years to improve overall employee experience.

Program Manager (Current Employee)
Denver, CO

I have been working at DISH full-time for more than 5 years

ProsPromotional and challenging career opportunities.

ConsStill a caustic environment too often driven by old fashioned selfishness of senior leadership.

great place to gain experience and take your talent elsewhere (where it will be appreciated)

Recruiter (Former Employee)

I worked at DISH full-time

Prosgreat co-workers, pretty campus (except you have to badge out to go outside for lunch)

Conslong hours, little appreciation/recognition, low pay

Advice to Senior ManagementWhere as being paid well is a great thing, sometimes a 'you did a great job on this' or 'way to go' feels good as well. I'm not saying everyone should get free handouts for not working hard, but recognition goes a long way. environment and morale are pretty bad most of the time and at 'good' times, it is fair.
