Great access to technology, but poor benefits and IT pros treated as anything but pros.

I have been working at DISH full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Access to leading edge technology. A very fast paced environment, lots of challenges to keep your mind and resume fresh.

    Cons

Very poor time off, maximum of 3 weeks ever regardless of time in the job. No comp time for working overtime, just the expectation you'll be in same time tomorrow. Always the feeling that management is looking for reasons to do another technology refresh - meaning "layoff" - all the time. So you're always looking over your shoulder. Professon also are seldom treated as such. Witness the hugely unpopular "badget report" recently reinstated that tracks all your comings and goings.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat the people busting their rears to make you successful as professionals. Stop the big brother tactics, and listen to their inputs.

I have been working at DISH full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Independent atmosphere. Work schedule (4 days on / 3 off). Hands on control.

    Cons

Micro managing via reports. No further advancement opportunities in the warehouse past SISP. Pay scale for warehouse.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review pay scale for warehouse workers as product inventory and control is actually the key to running a stable office.

Good experience, but poor company. Enjoyed the job of being an installer, but all I found was a dead end.

    Pros

Good pay. Good incentives and bonuses. If you are looking for a job to make some decent money in, an installer is the way to go. Great co-workers. 3 days off a week (except when overtime is mandatory). Good leadership, but not from management. Your seasoned co-workers will always be better leaders than management.

    Cons

Poor benefits. Poor management. Shady sales tactics. False hope for promotion to management. the only way to move up the ladder is by knowing someone.

I worked at DISH full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

pay was good. If you can handle talking to people on the phones for 8 hours a day and keep your cool, you can make 60000+. Very easy work if you are persuasive and enjoyable to talk to.

    Cons

DO NOT BE LATE. to begin the day, from break, from lunch, etc. they are very strict with their attendance policies. Micro-managed. Most sales leads were young kids that weren't great sales people. When looking to move up, you would make less money to become a lead.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward and acknowledge your best employees that have management potential. The great reps will only stick around so long without looking for better opportunities.
