I have been working at DST Systems part-time

    Pros

Some of the people were great to talk to and get to know. That was a good part of it.

    Cons

The manager do not have a clue what they're doing, and they don't have college degrees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Go to college and get your degree.

I have been working at DST Systems full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Work directly with a set group of clients, and ability to learn all aspects of the company.

    Cons

Very negative work environment, lots of messiness with a complete lack of appreciation of associates, very little follow through, and a constant push to take on more work without any hope of a promotion.

I worked at DST Systems full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

I have nothing positive to say about this 'weird' company

    Cons

They hire people for positions they don't even need and put them in a never-ending 'training' program. I was in limbo for over a year and NEVER assigned to a department because there were no positions available for the job they hired me for. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!

I worked at DST Systems part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

    No pros working at DST.

    Cons

Poor training, managers play favorites to their employees and as usual, employees play favorites to other employees.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop the favoritism, also you need to work on your training classes that are provided to your new hires-2 or 3 days of training is NOT sufficient. Have you heard of "hands-on training?" Yeah, you should consider that-especially those that are new to the software.

I worked at DST Systems full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

I am no longer there. I enjoy life now. I enjoy not having my vacation plans changed by my manager.

    Cons

Required overtime, lack of leadership at the upper management level. Raises are never more than 2%.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Quit your day job.

Big Pay Differences for Same Jobs

Former Employee - Systems Analyst in Kansas City, MO

I worked at DST Systems full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Steady paycheck that clears. Clean offices. Not much else is positive about it at all.

    Cons

HUGE difference in pay in the same division for the same job--maybe $40K vs $100K. If you are a woman or minority, please negotiate your salary hard before you're hired or else you'll be stuck at the same pay level forever. I've never been in any corporation with such a wide spread in salaries for the identical job description and title, but it is absolutely true. If you want no training, no support from management to improve your skills and want to lock up all your abilities in a deep-freeze, go ahead and work at this place. You also will never see any organization so top-heavy in its benefits as what company officers make versus what the worker bees make.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be fair. That would be a nice expectation. Also, try to share a few more of the crumbs off your profit-sharing and stock purchases with some of the little people. It will help everybody be just a little happier.

I worked at DST Systems full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Low level managers where cool , understood the BS and long hours and oncall that this company puts you through. Once you got past team leads it was all about getting screwed just so the upper mgnt looks good.

    Cons

Long hours , oncall sucked , you might as well put a ball and chain on once its your turn. Low pay , very low pay, This company is out of touch with today's work force , they will screw you over and not think twice about how your quality of life is , there new CIO completely ruined the IT dept with his grand ideas of how a IT dept should be ran. Complete failure and they lost pretty much 90% of all the quality engineers do to his decisions. If you want to work 60+ hours a week and be oncall all the time , this company is for you . All I can say is RUN , just ask around , it is very well known in KC that this is not the place to work if you want to be in IT.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You should just quit and give this once great company a chance to rebound and be great like it was 10 years ago , you have failed miserably and your arrogance and incompetence GLOWS throughout the KC metropolitan area.
