    Pros

Great opportunity to advance in a large local company.

    Cons

Terrible to low level employees, too much mandatory overtime, management continually understaffs to cut costs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Pros

If in the right group, it's great. Where managers care about associates.

    Cons

Some Sr. management will turn associates into scapegoats

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review governance of some groups. Take some power away from those that have too much. Those that overrule their managers decisions-

    Pros

Pay is decent. Most lower level management are good about allowing a good work and family balance.

    Cons

Executive management is solely concerned about stock price. The employees pay the price with layoffs and replacing good tools with cheaper substandard tools. Over the years all of the little extra perks employees have enjoyed have been eliminated.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually listen to your people instead of paying them only lip service. Reintroduce some of the perks (fyi, letting people wear casual clothes is not a perk).

I worked at DST Systems (more than 5 years)

    Pros

The company is making an effort to make changes that will improve the applications and make implementation easier for clients.

    Cons

There are ongoing re-organizations. Middle management is entrenched in the old ways of doing things Upper management does not enforce the changes that they want to implement, so little progress is actually made.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remove the managers that cannot embrace change, because it demoralizes associates that really do wnt to make the processes more effective.

I worked at DST Systems full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Newly renovated and clean environment.

    Cons

I started out part-time and eventually went full-time. Don't be fooled by the newly renovated building with nice views of downtown Kansas City. Don't be fooled by the popcorn Fridays, the monthly donut socials, or the many food days. As we know, the Financial Industry is UP and DOWN all the time. Therefore, this company has many LAYOFFS or will find any reason to FIRE you. You will not use anything that you learned in training. Management is more concerned with planning the next food day or donut social and could care less about your success at DST Systems. Opportunities to advance are very slim because they are all about politics. Pay is low compared to other similar companies and overtime is never really available. If you have children or if you can't live off of $12 to $13 an hour without steady overtime, don't waste your time. Please don't tell the manager anything in private and expect it to be private. Management is known for putting you in another position without your permission. You either take it or leave the company. If you are put into another position without your permission, you are being setup for a layoff or termination. Oh, be prepared to pay $40 to 60 a month for parking in which 3 cars will share one parking spot. If your car gets scratched or damaged by the parking attendants who move your car throughout the day, DST does not pay.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Stop playing politics. Make sure managers are there to help team members succeed. Stop trying to convince employees that everything is ok with the company by buying food and having party all the times. Need more DIVERSITY. Train employee properly before you lose clients to other competitors. Since bonuses are not given and pay is low, DST should at least pay for parking.

I have been working at DST Systems

    Pros

Great people with a plethora of knowledge

    Cons

Company is struggling to keep customers. Several layoff's have occured. I also have never met so many manipulative managers. It is not about what you know but how well you grovel your manager while boosting their ego.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

DST would be a much better place if instead of workers getting layed off it were management. Currently to many idians

I have been working at DST Systems full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Will be around for a long time. Will make money however at the employees cost.

    Cons

Weak salary. Management under CIO have been in place for awhile - 'cruising to retirement'. Behind the times - Command and control organization . Management makes decisions to sign deals and make promises but the process to support isn't there. They do make it work but process, people, and prioritization ecosystem is non-existent. PM's are facilitators no true ownership.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

CIO - where is your plan? Share it. Management is either non-existent or strong handed. More balance. DO you know the meaning of a Project Manager. Document process and artifacts / knowledge - then get rid of dead weight !
