I have been working at DaVita full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

organized and timely communications from senior leadership and people services. high value on partnership over being just a "vendor". strong emphasis on quality and clinical outcomes to improve patient care. offers flexible work environments and opportunities such as telecommuting for managers. promoting work life balance for employees is a top priority here.

    Cons

no 401K match. instead a profit sharing plan is in place (although it is very discretionary how profits are distributed when profits are to be had). I understand why they are set up this way. However, as a manager, I am missing out on dollars I could be getting with another company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

continue offering flexible work environments and remote positions.

I have been working at DaVita full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Domestic partner healthcare benefits offered.

    Cons

Work load and responsibility is more than hours permitted to complete. No 401k matching. Profit sharing offered through bonuses. Bonuses are based on meeting "goals" for your facility/clinic. Goal periods are every 6 months. If your facility/clinic does not meet these goals, you do not get a bonus. Goals are unrealistic and sometimes dependent on patient adherence. Healthcare benefits are acceptable. You must take accountability for your health or you pay an additional cost for your healthcare coverage. Your must complete 4 steps to acquire points. Each step is worth 1 point which is equals $100 in savings. If you fail to complete all 4 steps you will pay an additional $800 on top of what is already deducted for your healthcare benefits. PTO went from 320 hours to 120 hours. The expectation is that you take PTO to maintain healthy mental/physical balance but for clinical staff, it's not realistic as staffing is kept to a minimal. Requesting time off can be a challenge when most facilities struggle to stay fully staffed. Work load and responsibility is more than the hours permitted to complete. Overtime is discouraged. Management can be poor in regards to staffing and how overtime is dispersed when it is available.

I have been working at DaVita

    Pros

Great work-life Balance, very cool team of professionals, great downtown location. Over all, this is a company that has a lot of opportunity.

    Cons

comparably low hourly rate, no discussions around compensation when your contract is extended, their "no-org chart" approach I believe is a good way to avoid accountability. Yes - it is a big company so there is politics. There is no getting around that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Over all, the experience that I have had working with everyone has been a good one.

    I worked at DaVita

    Pros

The base pay is great. You become a pro at time-management. Fun working environment

    Cons

Some of the challenges working here are the amount of patients you have per shift and the time you have to get your patients out and the others one in. Majority of the time or to tech ratio is 5:1

I have been working at DaVita full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Personal and professional development is encouraged. Outstanding team atmosphere. Opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

The work is hard and can be depressing, high patient to staff ratio, frequent staff turnover, and lower than average wages for the industry.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The number one improvement I would like to see is improved patient to staff ratios. The center of nursing should be focused on direct patient care.....this is becoming increasingly difficult due to the constant added jobs and responsibilities of the dialysis nurse. This includes everything from countless hours spent on arranging transportation for patients to managing reports and rolling out numerous new initiatives with no room in the budget for increased staff.
