I have been working at Dairy Queen full-time

ProsSlow, laidback, plenty of break time, Christmas Bonus (small), Free food on the clock, Clean store.

ConsOwners don't seem to know what they are doing half the time, short shifts so you have to work 6-7 days a week to get hours. Low pay. Constant arguing among employees.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

I worked at Dairy Queen part-time for less than a year

ProsCoworkers were fun to be around, salary was negotiable, nearly free food/ice cream.

ConsManagement/owners of the franchise didn't seem to know what they were doing, management let their personal lives get in the way of working professionally nearly every day.

ProsPros are the people. Most of the people who work here are absolutely amazing, and a joy to be around. The boss lets you have necessary days off, so it's good for high school students and those with hectic schedules.

ConsCons are: everything else. It gets so busy, and we would get so under scheduled. It's almost too hectic, especially on game days and summer nights. Some of the teenagers who work here have NO idea how to do their job. They sit on their phones, ignoring what work there is to be done. The customers get so mad, even when it truly is them who is wrong. Closing is hell, because if you work with someone who doesn't care, you'll get out late, for sure.

Advice to Senior ManagementFire the teenagers, make them put their phones in your office before their shifts.

ProsThe Managers and coworkers were, for the most part pretty nice, experienced and professional. The hours were perfect for a young person in high school and looking for their first job.

ConsThe owners of the specific location that I worked at were awful. They spent very little time actually at the location and if everything wasn't perfect when they dropped by, you were written up. They played favorites very badly and promoted the people that either flirted or kissed up to them. It was super awful and unprofessional. They also discriminated against Mormons because of a personal issue they had with the church. As a result, those people seemed to always get treated unfairly.

Advice to Senior ManagementDo not promote or punish based on a person whim! Be professional and promote/reward your hardest workers!!!

I have been working at Dairy Queen for more than 3 years

ProsThe food is good , but we were constantly running out of food because upper management would change food orders. Vendors were disgruntled because they were not paid on time.

ConsPromises of promotion, bonuses and a full management staff were not kept. Some managers were not allowed to fulfill thier duties and others were always unhappy and ill-tempered.

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep stores fully staffed with upper management and let unhappy/bad tempered managers go. Reward managers and employess that do their jobs.
