I have been working at Dallas Independent School District full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Management is very detail and really into each employee bettering themselves. You have the opportunity to grow and transfer to other departments within the district. I like the fact that beyond the drama you see on the TV, many employee really love what they do and desire to bring their best to work everyday!

    Cons

In any job you have the good and bad. I really don't have any..

I worked at Dallas Independent School District part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

My best reasons for working with the district. {1} Enjoyed working with the kids and staff. {2} I also felt like I had a purpose in the community.

    Cons

The various teachers lay-offs. And the news rules that have been in place.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the good work with the limited funds that you do have.

I worked at Dallas Independent School District full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Invest a lot of money in training their teachers. Fair compensation. Lots of bonuses and stipends. Awesome students.

    Cons

Students here are not used to doing homework so it is quite challenging to take them to new heights. You have to be very creative. Best work/life balance...3 months vacation, can't beat that. I recommend DISD to friends all the time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give the teachers more autonomy and strictly enforce the dress code.

Dallas ISD Internship helped me out

Current Employee - Intern in Dallas, TX

I have been working at Dallas Independent School District as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

I enjoyed a fairly flexible schedule that was highly conducive to conducting my research. My supervisor was extremely helpful in offering suggestions.

    Cons

I worked more or less directly with my supervisor, so I never got to know most of the staff. The building was also in a terrible neighborhood.
