I have been working at Data Systems International full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Working for DSI has been a very positive experience for me. It's very apparent that their employees are their primary focus and the environment has been centered around making DSI one of Kansas City's best places to work. They constantly work to create a fun environment with free pool tables, arcade games, chair massages etc. Salaries are very competitive and they offer a great bonus program. I really enjoy the people I work with and feel that they are invested in helping me grow in my career. The product is very innovative, so you get the opportunity to be a part of a lot of exciting things.

    Cons

    I haven't really experienced any

I've been at DSI for a little over 5 years now. I've seen the company grow and embrace changes, internally &externally.

I have been working at Data Systems International full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

This is a great place for people who enjoy being direct contributors. There is seldom micro-management. You are trusted to do your job and do it well, with minimal supervision. You are held to a high standard - but most people here hold themselves to a high standard any way. You have a lot of opportunity to grow and learn, with management support along the way. There aren't many places that offer the perks that DSI offers (wellness incentives, gym memberships, flex start times, independence, etc.), the ability to be an individual contributor, and the small company / family feel.

    Cons

More work from home options would be a plus. That being said, being able to set up shop at a coffee place down the street helps balance that.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

We all appreciate the willingness of Management to seek out ways to make DSI a great employer. We're often reminded and informed of perks - which is great. Communication with employees has been stronger over the last 1.5 years - please keep that up.

I've seen this company change over the last 5+ years and am very excited about upcoming changes.

    Pros

What a difference a couple of years make. DSI has so changed since moving downtown. It has become a very fun work environment. Management is supportive and has a great vision. Coming to work in jeans and shorts is great & wow what a Q2 bonus...Thanks!

    Cons

The only thing I see missing is 401K matching. Insurance premiums are also kinda steep however bonuses more than take out the sting... Otherwise I can't see any other negatives.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Thanks for valuing me as an employee, I am excited to come to the office every day.

I have been working at Data Systems International full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I work on an incredible team. Our cohesion is unmatched and I'm so lucky to be on it. My manager challenges me but never gives me anything that I can't handle. I feel valued in my role and am treated fairly. I also love to game room that DSI has, as well as the generous vacation/personal time they provide. All in all, I genuinely feel wanted and appreciated.

    Cons

Overall I don't see a lot of cons. I would love to be able to work from home occasionally on days where I'm not scheduled for meetings, but this is not something that affects how I feel about DSI. I'm very happy with my employment.

I have been working at Data Systems International full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Although I am a recent employee here with less than a year under my belt, I am not new to technology firms and have worked for Fortune 100 firms on down to little startups. Things are not perfect but the work is great and cutting edge. How many companies can you say your doing cutting edge fun work (mobility in the enterprise in our case) while having 34 years of business under their belts. Of all the companies I have been at I can truly say DSI has been one of the best.

DSI is growing and has a fantastic new office in the Power and Light district of Kansas City. Management has changed a bit and things are really going well in the Development group now. People come in and work hard for 8 hours. I haven't seen any crazy hours that were a sign of the past. Heck the management team has even planned a few fun events and this has been a real boon.

Benefits are wonderful. I can't disclose all of them here, but they are better than some of the top companies I have worked for in the past. Many changes just in the last 3 months that have made DSI top notch to work for.

If you love doing work on multiple mobile systems and ERP's you will love DSI for sure!

    Cons

There are still a few things that could be improved of course. It would be nice if the office were less of a showcase and more of a comfortable place to work. The office is really high tech and beautiful but at times it feels like we are not really welcome in it due to a few policies around personal effects and plants. Still with such a new office I can understand the pride we all feel in this place.

The break rooms are there to be used and should be allowed to keep things on the counters. That is always a pain when you have to be hyper clean 24/7. Old office felt more homey in that regard.

Overall very minor gripes. Nothing like I have read in some of the other reviews of DSI. They don't even sound like the same place I work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Relax about the personal space people work and let us personalize it some like at Google or other Silicone Valley companies. The office looks like a Silicone Valley tech company except for the personalization that is highly encouraged there. Let us do the same.
