    Pros

Good reputation, wide breadth of specialization opportunities, diverse geographic footprint, decent benefits package including potential flexible working arrangements, engaged senior leadership team, diverse education offerings, international footprint.

    Cons

Suffers from disparate compensation for similar talent, advancement opportunity is also lacking - plenty of room to move lateral, but not up. This employer can also be slow to recognize talent which leads to attrition. Lack of integration between units causes redundancy and inefficiency - can be frustrating since those resources could/should be focused on employees and students. The employee evaluation process is outdated (substantive reviews do not drive rating, it is the opposite, which cheapens the actual review feedback). This is perhaps not uncommon, but is a missed opportunity.

    Advice to Management

As the organization continues to work "smarter" in lean times, my advice is to focus on developing and advancing the talent you have. You will continue to lose good people because of management silos and a review and advancement process that is perceived more as lip-service than actual opportunity. Things like leadership center courses, annual reviews and goal setting are meaningless unless they lead to actual advancement. Less fluff and more substance.

    Pros

It's easy to skate by at DEG. The directors/managers are mediocre and set no incentives for employees to produce.

    Cons

Because there are no incentives to produce and no rewards for producing more than your peers, you don't get paid for going above and beyond.

    Advice to Management

Find a way to incentivize all workers from hourly to salaried and you'll see the culture of mediocrity change.

    Pros

    Great benefits including free education.

    Cons

Lots of pressure to enroll students whether they belonged in school or not. Management plays favorites and gives certain people better leads.

    Advice to Management

Be more honest with your employees.

    Cons

Team leads should know how to do the job so they can help.Too many managers, small dept doesn't need three upper level mgmt.

    Advice to Management

Save money as much as you can

    Pros

Great work out facilities if you work at home office. Also the people you work with are pretty cool at work and outside of work. You get good benefits, flexible hours, Annual Company picnic really cool. You can really move around and up in the company if you stay focus and really try, network with the right departments.

    Cons

Sometimes you may feel overworked for not enough pay. Leadership is a lot of talk sometimes they will tell you how they operate in the interview process and how they are. After being there for some time you might see and understand that they are just that TALK. Not all the leadership but most of them. Also remember that most of the leadership team don't really interact with people at DeVry, just because you were a DeVry badge people will walk right pass you like you don't exist.

    Advice to Management

I think upper management needs to talk to their senior leadership team and inform them to engage with their employees more, also speak to colleagues even if you don't know who they are, one of the saddest things I've witnessed is assisting a VP for some commons issues he/she was encountering and he/she never remembered your name. That's embarrassing to have the same conversation over and over again and they continue to ask you what is your name like you just met for the first time. Not all managers/Directors were bad, just some I can say this also the senior director I had didn't know who his team was, meaning he didn't know where they sat and didn't recognize faces when he approached them for help. Mind you we had these All hands meetings, and we all were present he still didn't know who we really were, kind of sad to be under leadership that well, how can you ever advance if your own senior manager don't know you. Still a good place to work and get a lot of experience depending on your career.

    Pros

Worked from home and was able to complete daily tasks with not much stress. Good co-workers. Traveled to great cities throughout the US

    Cons

Unstable environment as many people were fired. Not a lot of room for promotion within the company. Inequality amongst the staff.

    Advice to Management

I would recommend more equality. More stability throughout the years, rather than scramble before a session would begin
