    Room for Growth

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsLots of room for growth! Get your degree while working. My hours were flexible. Great open door policy and for the most part, good team environment.

ConsPoor recognition for employees - employees that should get the proper recognition don't receive any and employees who do receive recognition shouldn't have!

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

Job satisfaction very much depends on the department you are in.

    Student Financial Analyst (Former Employee)
    Wood Dale, IL

ProsBenefits (health and retirement) are pretty good, lots of overtime (good if hourly). Training and keeping employees updated is important to DeVry.

ConsVery long hours for some departments, pay for certain departments were average at best. Some managers were placed with employees that they didn't know how to work with. (My last position, I had a manager who was 70 and didn't believe in the internet, leading a team of 20 who were all under the age of 25)

Advice to Senior ManagementMake sure you reward those employees who are doing the best work.

ProsGreat colleagues, ethical organization, committed to its students and the ongoing development of its employees. Encouraged and supported community involvement and volunteerism. Lots of job satisfaction.

ConsLong hours, heavy workloads sometimes difficult to handle, however, flex time options are available for many to maintain work/life balance.

Advice to Senior ManagementContinue to support your staff. Work better with each other and break down silos.

DeVry Inc. is a for-profit business, devoted to quality experience based teaching.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Atlanta, GA

ProsDeVry is aggressively focused on growth, even in the face of recession. They have high standards for their staff, professors, and administration. There is room to grow with the company, especially if one is open to relocation. DeVry is partnered with other learning institutions, offering Associate's, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees in fields ranging from Business/Management to Nursing and IT. They recruit from the top levels of management in many sectors and industries, providing students with real-live experiences to gain a great understanding of today's business world.

ConsDeVry's expansion program leads to some cuts and hiring freezes at the administrative level. There is a minimum of support staff and the Deans have an extremely heavy workload.

Advice to Senior ManagementDeVry wants active visible managers. They have the potential for rapid movement upward, and lateral shifts to other locations. Be prepared for hard-work. DeVry has standards for continuing education for senior staff, has generous benefits for vacation and health, and dependent's education.

    Great Learning Experience, Great Enviornment

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Downers Grove, IL

ProsLots of open space and lighting, windows everywhere (atmosphere)
    Great people

ConsHard to get out of office at 5pm. Right near highway and road design makes it seem like Chicago traffic if you are heading toward the highway. So commute time might be annoying.
