    Pros

    Good entry level jobs for people without technical degrees. They are flexible when it comes to time off. If our stock would ever take off we all receive options when we are hired onto the company. In general people are pretty happy.

    Cons

    Its really boring. There isn't any room for creativity. Our stock has not taken off. It has lost more than half of its value from a few months ago. We depend too much on large contracts. Workload is quite seasonal. There is minimal communicaion between different divisions of the company.

    Advice to Management

    Allow for more 'extracurricular' activities.

    Pros

    Decent pay, but that is starting to decrease.

    Cons

    No opportunity to move up. They do not promote from within. They have also changed our pay plan every year. Each year it get's worse. I think this will be a $75K a year job within the next 1-2 years.

    Advice to Management

    Got out in the field and see what our customers are really saying. Many products have challenges and we have not spent the time to resolve these issues.

    Pros

    Benefits Ok. There is flexibility with working from home.

    Cons

    Politics, politics, politics. There is very, very little communication between (or even within departments). Employees not located in New York are treated like second class citizens. DealerTrack is a software development company that is very slow to investigate or adapt to new software technologies...they often times have the blinders on too much.

    Advice to Management

    For the most part, I'm very satisfied with my senior management. The one and only gripe I have is that the chain of command/department structure on paper looks ok, but in reality is very muddled.

    Pros

    Stable, so long as you made your manager happy. Lots of opportunities for growth and different career paths in the industry if you don't mind moving.

    Cons

    Lots of middle management, 80% of which are career managers and not "doers" who rose through the ranks. The upper management generally has their act together, but getting anything done or communicated down the chain generally wasn't effective.

    Advice to Management

    Don't try to be so diverse. You don't need to have everything for everyone. Concentrate on areas of strength and stick to what you know.

    Pros

    They are understanding. Everyone is very nice. Its very casual environment. The people aren't at all snobby. Easy place to work.

    Cons

    It can be incredibly boring. They don't use their resources greatly. Its not an exciting fun place to work as a younger person.

    Advice to Management

    Don't take away peoples pay. Offer any fun events for employees to do to break up the day to day monotony.

    Overall a nice organization to work for.

    Immediate supervision was not fair and balanced with employee treatment or sharing information.

    Lot of favourisim, If you have godfather then you can progress.

    management has to recognize people who are good, rather favorisim.

    Pros

    Opportunity growth for the "Tech Savvy" Talents, DealerTrack hires fast and allows you to work alone in the Remote or Outside positions. Travel is fun and working with Clients establishing relationships will make your job decent place to be to be.

    Cons

    Low compensation to start, Senior Management is substandard and doesn’t have the ground experience in the Field with Client Relation, way too many Managers and VP’s of Departments that don’t do anything for the customer. DealerTrack hires people that don’t have prior experience in the industry and know what they are doing. The Pay Plan is Base Mid $50K to come aboared and uses a Stock Market derivative math formula to pay commission. Bonuses are cut off in the Filed Level and go to Senior VP's of Redundant Micro Management, which is a thought-provoking widespread disorder in their environment, very hard to please anyone unless your a "Buddy" and if you don’t fit in the Club you need be looking if your job is going away. Way to much Report Writing is useless and does nothing for the client meaning the Dealership, Upper Management oversteps the ability of what they can do and certainly not knowing what they are doing most of the time. Not and overstatement.

    Advice to Management

    Keep people who are loyal and don’t (Expire) jobs of long term employees that have been good to the company and earned their stay, too many changes purposly ending careers is a merciless process and has wounded the company integrity that no apology can fix. DealerTrack needs to rehire some people they terminated prior for no reason which never made good judgment.

    I have been working at Dealertrack Technologies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Company business is going. Opportunities will be high. People are really nice.

    Cons

    Cost of living is high in New York. Salary in company compared to responsibilities are not good in my case. Work hours/ Life balance is poor... limited option for work from home.

    Pros

    Pay is at or above market average Business is growing at a reasonable rate Market leader in service offerings

    Cons

    Poor collaboration within business units and across company Technology is out-dated Innovation is given lip service, but actually discouraged Most employees are not appreciated. The favorites can do no wrong.

    Advice to Management

    Get a balanced view of the behaviors your senior management team (VP/GM and above) is exhibiting and how they demotivate team members. This could be fantastic place to work and great company, but not until you have leaders who inspire and motivate.
