I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Love the "get it done" attitude and customer focused culture. Doing what's right for the customer always rises to the top, even when mistakes get made along the way. Have had 9 bosses in 17 years -- all but 1 were fabulous and caring leaders. Fortunately, the one that wasn't left very quickly -- he didn't fit the culture. And, best thing about my job, it keeps me fresh. The job content expands and changes every 12 - 18 months which gives me ongoing challenges and keeps me from being bored. Lastly -- I work from home every Friday and have been for 12 years. Love that I skip commuting one day a week and still have a great career.

    Cons

It's a very big company. Working anything end to end in this company is hard given its size, different business (client, enterprise, software and services), global reach, etc. Simply said, it's is complex which can make getting things communicated and done difficult.

I have been working at Dell full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I have been working at Dell for 4 years and have experienced the transition from public to private and amongst many changes the transition has been smooth. It is almost impossible for a company this size to change directions, but Michael has taken up this impossible task and moving ahead full throttle. The company's direction to move towards software and services has taken up a new meaning internally, many new acquisitions and new software products being developed. Lots of opportunities internally.
The office culture is one of a very large family, we have our own squibbles but you dare not challenge us, we respond with one force! The spirit of loyalty and personal interest never go out of fashion and that's what keeps Dell going strong.
Mangers listen and act, Team members actually get work achieved and many rewards await if you do your part.
Work life balance is excellent, I am a single mom and would NOT have been able to make it through the challenges each day presents without this balance. I wake up every day looking forward to make a difference within my team and DO MORE!

I have been working at Dell full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

So many people to meet, so many things to learn and ways to access that information, and an overall great experience. The entrepreneurial flair trickles all the way down to each employee- Dell enables you to take the reigns on your career and propel forward. They really have the support and infrastructure for remote employees and if you are active, you do NOT feel like your own little island.

    Cons

There are probably too many different internal systems to sign on too, and you have to keep a track sheet of what everything is and why it would be important to yourself at any given time.
