    Great company to start career!

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

ProsDeloitte has the best training and Development programmes. The hiring process does not stall. It's a huge organization to learn new things and get aware of new technologies. Amazing co-workers and environment.

ConsCompensation is below average. No work from home for few deppartments. No work life balance.

Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend – I'm optimistic about the outlook for this company

    Another Point of View

    Specialist Leader (Current Employee)

ProsThis place affords you the opportunity to solve some of the most complex client problems. You often work with with large teams and most of the time everyone pulls their weight to get the job done. Talent really tries to focus on bringing in the best and brightest. As you progress in your career, you also get an opportunity to counsel and mentor others as well as give back by teaching at Deloitte University. My overall experience has aligned to a "work hard - play hard" approach to delivery of world-class IT services.

ConsBe prepared to adapt to the ever changing evaluation system where the rules change where it becomes increasingly harder to be successful. In general, the performance reviews are fair, but inconsistencies exist. The firm seems to reward sales and managed revenue, but doesn't always take into account hard word and effort that may lead to the recovery of a project.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe performance evaluation process needs improvement. So much time is spent performing due diligence for a 2-3 minute "pitch" during mid-year and year end evaluation periods. The Knowledge Exchange portal should also be improved to make it easier to find client solutions (for qualifications) and to truly build leading practices that are shared across the enterprise (vs. living on hundreds of laptops across the firm).

Sacrifice work/life balance to build your career

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

ProsThe best reasons to work here is due to promotions, experience in audit/documentation, and ability to manage change and ambuiguity

ConsChallenges in working here are managing a work/life balance, and the ability to work through pressure/stress

    A positive stepping stone culture.

    ERS Manager (Former Employee)
    Phila, PA

    Pros- Resume builder
    - Pays the most out of big four right out of school
    - Employee morale is generally high and people keep to themselves about how many hours they work
    - Flexibility is present for managers and above

Cons- Future outlook of some groups is bleak (i.e. non-audit, non-consulting)
    - Firm does not invest in groups that dont have 7 figure potential for every project
    - Training quality has decreased due to economy and has not yet reached the level it once was

Great company, low compensation for Consulting practice!

    Human Capital Analyst (Current Employee)
    Chicago, IL

Pros- Great company with lots of direction and resources to help you get there
    - Lots of talented people

Cons- Extremely fragmented and sometimes, you don't know how to access the resources you need
    - Politics, politics and more politics! Why does it always have to be about that during projects? Some teams are great to work with but others are just a mine field

Advice to Senior Management- You need help accessing those resources and they aren't always easily accessible when you need them
    - Unnecessary focus on PPD initiatives as part of the review system - after traveling all week and being out of town, the last thing you want to focus on when you come back for a weekend is the internal firm initiatives. It should be the employee's prerogative - not a mandatory task
    - Compensation is extremely low for analysts/consultants and raises are a joke with almost little to no year end bonus - I'm talking from my perspective in 2009 when most people suffered from lower than usual utilizations

    Deloitte's Public Sector review

    Senior Consultant (Federal) (Current Employee)
    Rosslyn, VA

    Pros- Salary
    - Stability
    - Structure
    - Benefits

I've worked in Deloitte's Federal AERS practice for five years and met some great Partner's.

    Cons- Boring work
    - Politics. Those who suck up will move up
    - Long-term engagement

Although I've met great parnters, I've worked with terrible managers. As a CPA, my direct manager was a government major and I didn't learn anything from them.

Advice to Senior ManagementProvide more recognition to staff level practitioners, make them feel like you can build a career at Deloitte. the expectation for many staff members is that you stay at Deloitte for 2-5 years and then you leave. You'd save alot of money if you invest in your people in the long term.
