Current Employee - Deloitte Interview in Hyderābād (India)

I have been working at Deloitte

    Pros

It is the worst process i have seen till now.
    They gave invite for walk-in
They made us to wait for 8 hrs.
After 8 hrs of waiting one half knowledge person took my interview..she is not even ready to listen my answers
If they dont have requirement why the hell they are wasting time of others.
I think there recruitment is just a show off .
I am not at all satisfied with their process
She asked oops and said hr will get back to you.
After waiting 8 hrs i got that reply.
    Worst experience in my life.
I will not suggest anyone to attend walk-in in Deloitte.

    Cons

    Noting
Cons to mention about the interview process.
    Its simply waste of time.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you conduct walk-in ,please try to organize the panel. I was not at all satisfied with your interview process.
The panel is not interested in asking questions. What is the purpose of interview ?

    Pros

Association with a big brand name

    Cons

Work-life balance is distant while working at deloitte. Even taking one leave is a herculean task. The culture is highly bureaucratic and managers are very insensitive. HR has no say. Managers like Malika Kumar make her team work till late in the night and announce that she herself has family dinners or going for a pedicure. Working late and working on weekends is normal while working for the firm.

    Cons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The hours are simply too long. And the employees hardly have any scope of living lives of their own outside the office.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

-chill life if you get a useless project but wont add to your learning
    - people say its good if you want to have an MBA . But i personally think wasting your time doing all crappy work is not justified , though the outerworld has a very great immpression about deloitte but trust me you will know the actuality from day1 .

    Cons

    - Not so many joinees from top engineering colleges
    - If u get stuck in bad project they are going to make you work like hell
    - Most of the experience guys have no technical knowledge in short incompetent seniors
    - No learning
    - You will like the pay if u get a project where you dont have to work much but you will regret if you happen to work for a project which makes u work for 10 or more than 10 hours+ weekends as well
    - For a purely technical guy this company is a strict no no
    - Low salary hikes
    - Very less projects that company have
    - unrealistic project deadlines

Just have a lot to say about deloitte , hope you understand what I meant

I worked at Deloitte full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

This is the one and only pro i must admit.

Their pay is better than other big service based companies, that's all.

    Cons

ooh my god where do i start....

    1. Work life balance - None, you have to make heavy sacrifices in your personal life. it can feel worse if you are married and want to spend time with your family on weekends. Bachelors forget it, you are reminded that you are one and dont have a life.
    2. Work place politics - Heavy, you cannot grow or even survive if you aren't sucking upto your seniors.
    3. They heavily market something called as "Networking" after sometime i got the real meaning of it. It means play politics at work place, make sure you do as asked by your Ms, SMs and PPDs even if its not doable or possible. Always and always belong to atleast one group (and make sure that group has some clout or else you are nobody).
    4. Employee Appraisals - good holy heavens!! the three points should make this clear and implicit i think.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

well, all i can think of is start over guys and may be this time you have already learnt a lesson.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    1. Team Lunch/ Outing/ Party
    2. Laptop
    3. Flexible Working hours

    Cons

    1. Technology used in various projects are some 10 year old.
    2. Your profile wont be good if you stay in this company for 2+ years.
    3. Even a 4+ year exp. person will get a documentation work.
    4. They will say that you should do 'Networking', but it is actually termed as 'Politics' / 'Buttering' . If you know buttering then join. Persons who are not buttering the higher officials will get low rating and asked to get out of the company.
    5. Avg working hours might be 14-16 hours. If you work only for 9 hours, you will get low rating.
    6. There is no transparency.
    7. No proper training will be given for freshers.
    8. No proper KT will be given when you join a project.
    9. there are lot more.. this space wont be enough.

This organisation claims to be women friendly but I was subjected to sexual harassment and forced to resign.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

The global organisation has the right policies but the local leadership does not implement them.

    Cons

I was subjected to repeated sexual harassment by my colleagues. When I complained about this to the Management team I was told that I was imagining it all and they could not deal with these issues. As I refused to drop the issue I was told that if I could not with stand minor sexual advances I should leave the job. Some of the Indian Leadership tried to take the corrective action but the younger American Partner and the Senior Manger I spoke to made it very clear that if I continued to pursue the matter I should just leave. Also the American Partner, seemed to side with my harassers and no punitive measures were taken against them. In fact I was the one who was victimised and every effort was made to bully me into silence. Over all I found the atmosphere in this organisation very chauvinistic and sexist. I also observed the Senior Management objectified the women professionals and hired, rated and promoted them on the basis of whether they found them personally attractive or not. I don't think women were viewed with respect and as professionals in this company and the atmosphere was increasingly promiscuous with both men and women dressing and behaving in an inappropriate manner.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

The organisation claimed to have a lot of progressive and politically correct policies, especially with regard to women, but the local leadership does not implement them when they choose to. The organisation supposedly had anti-harassment policies but I noticed not only in my case but in other cases as well that the women who complained were demeaned and victimised and all of them chose to leave the organisation.

Former Employee - Manager in Hyderābād (India)

I worked at Deloitte full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

I can think of very few positives in this organisation. Although the organisation claimed to be very people friendly, highly progressive and women friendly, this was mostly HR propaganda but the reality was very different.

    Cons

This organisation claims to be women friendly but I was subjected to repeated sexual harassment in the last year that I worked with them. I reported these issues to Senior management but they took little cognisance of my concerns and refused to believe me and dismissed all my claims. No action was taken against the perpetrators. In fact the younger American Partner and the Senior manger I spoke to seemed to side with him and I was advised to let the issue go. Every time I brought the issue up I was told that maybe it would be best if I left the organisation. This despite the fact that the firm has so called anti harassment policies. The message I was given was that if I was not willing to suffer these sexual advances it would be better for me to leave. Also overall the culture was extremely sexist, chauvinistic and promiscuous. Women in the organisation were not treated as professionals, and were evaluated and promoted on the basis of how attractive the Senior Management found them. Also mine was not an isolated incident - there were cases of harassment in the past where the women were victimised by the Senior American Management and bullied into silence. Ultimately I did not find it safe to work in this organisation and also because I would not drop the issues of harassment I had been subjected to I was asked to leave, which is illegal. Additionally the American senior Management were highly arrogant and racist and there was clear discrimination in how Americans and Non-Americans were treated in the organisation.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please implement your so called policies or do not make claims to have them. You have a lot of politically correct policies but none of these are followed in reality. Also please evaluate women on the basis of their professional competence and do not objectify women in the workplace.
