I worked at Deloitte full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good company with perfectly reasonable base salaries and work life balance. Top rate clients and big projects, generally considered fairly high prestige.

    Cons

Huge cohort each year means finding individual career paths are challenging. Bonuses are relatively low and process for rapid promotions is relatively inflexible.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work harder to keep strong performers while moving poor performers on.

I worked at Deloitte full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Good qualifications given
    - Decent progression
    - Potential for good salary when leaving
    - Drives your career in a very particular direction, especially within some service lines.
    - Values excellence and you will be surrounded by very intelligent people.

    Cons

    - Work-life balance is just jargon
    - Inflexible
    - Drives your career in a very particular direction, especially within some service lines.
    - Very, very boring work at times.
    - Relatively very poor starting salaries, and salary progression compared to industry work. Starting salaries have not increased - even with inflation - in over 5 years.

I worked at Deloitte full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great training, some great employees and a fun, supportive, friendly atmosphere

    Cons

Work life balance is poor and seems to be getting worse, even management have expressed concern after this was reflected in surveys. It is not a bonus culture (unless you are a partner) so there is little reward for all the hard work they expect from you. I have worked with some very talented people at the firm, but also with some very poor performers who really made me question how and why they were hired. Promotion is very challenging and I have seen many top performers be denied promotions for seemingly trivial reasons

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep up the culture and high quality training but recognise that people need to be challenged and given opportunities. An example of this is how difficult the firm makes it to transfer to other departments or offices

I have been working at Deloitte full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Clear career progression path
    ACA
Big four on CV is valuable
Experience on a range of clients

    Cons

    Work /life balance is poor
Hours beyond the core busy season are not 9-5 (you will get sent to different offices and departments to ensure that they get their moneys worth out of you)
Bonus structure gets worse every year
Career progression after training programme completed can be more political - increased onus on "contribution to department" rather than the quality of work - pays to be known

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

reward the good workers and recognise efforts not just people who are well known and more social/ organise group events

    Recommends
    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Deloitte full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great people, very high performance environment, high profile clients

    Cons

Pay doesn't compensate for long hours or travel, no ownership of outputs, very varied work (I.e great or really boring).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Appreciate the talent you have and give that talent a voice, otherwise you'll end up with machines.
