Current Employee – been working at Deloitte full-time for less than a year
Pros – The company is great. There is a true culture of excellence that permeates throughout the organization. The place can be non-stop if you stay billable.
Cons – Life there can become overwhelming, at times
Advice to Senior Management – Easy on the training, please!

Former Employee – worked at Deloitte full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – - Excellent benefits (flexible work arrangements, 25 days paid vacation, parental leave)
- Clear requirements for career progression
- Smart, fun colleagues
- Ability to select projects after you've been there for a year (assuming you are performing well)
Cons – - Lots of time on the road away from home/family
- Depending on projects, can be long weeks - the burn rates vary significantly from project to project
- 90% of consultants are excellent, but other 10% are significantly less impressive
Advice to Senior Management – - Start using 360-degree feedback - I've witnessed some lower level staff (analysts, consultants) who know how to suck up to leadership but are not actually team players or liked by their peers

Current Employee – been working at Deloitte full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Deloitte provides a wide variety of market offerings to a large client portfolio, which allows you to experience various projects in different subject areas and industries that interest you most. While working for such a large firm can be potentially overwhelming, Deloitte has a great internal networking system set up to keep a small firm feel from an employees perspective.
Cons – Deloitte attracts the best and brightest individuals to work here, so you must take ownership of your career and voice your interests through the proper channels or you might get lost in the shuffle. Deloitte's culture is very competitve (lots of type-A personalities), but at the same time, Deloitte emphasizes an apprenticeship model, which balances the competitive culture with a priority on teamwork and mentorship.
Advice to Senior Management – Ensure that the apprenticeship model continues to be emphasized with senior leaders as well as project managers in the firm, since it is likely the most valuable aspect of the firm (learning from your peers and mentors).

Current Employee – been working at Deloitte full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – 1) Interesting business questions and situations: we have the opportunity to work with our clients on many of their most interesting and challenging issues.
2) Apprenticeship-driven culture: leaders take the time during project work and beyond to help build skills and expertise in the staff.
3) Diverse roles and projects: the goal of many people out of undergrad and grad school entering consulting is to try out various types of work and industries, Deloitte has absolutely afforded me that opportunity to learn and explore before specializing.
4) Incredibly talented and fun staff: probably the single thing that makes me love my job is the staff I get to work with day to day. Bright, talented and definitely pass the 'airplane' test of fun to be around.
Cons – The biggest challenge, and often the reason I've seen peers move into other roles, is the amount of travel. While there are non-client facing roles that allow you to be at home, the client-facing side of the business requires frequent travel to work on-site with our clients. This can mean long periods of time away from home.

Current Employee – been working at Deloitte full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – - Clear expectations framework
- Challenging work
- Competetive compensation
- Great people
Cons – - A large company requires a lot of checks and balances which can cause a lot of beurocratic work, just something that is a fact for every large consulting firm
Advice to Senior Management – Keep up the great work. Five years later this is still the best place for me.

Current Employee – been working at Deloitte full-time for more than 3 years
Pros – Commitment to excellence, global, communities of practice to support specialties and interests, commitment to community involvement and give-back, strong support for training and skill development
Cons – Matrix management can be confusing, and people can get "lost" if they aren't mindful of the different demands coming from each matrix leadership. High demand on time, both for client service work and building eminence & networks
Advice to Senior Management – Recap expectations regularly, it is hard to keep track

Current Employee – been working at Deloitte full-time for more than 10 years
Pros – Great people to work with and for. Offers great training program and access to curriculum to keep skills current. Projects and work opportunities are very interesting and challenging.
Cons – Can get lost in the sea of consultants with so many in the firm. Tend to work longer hours than other places due to firm commitments and extra curricular activities that are required.
Advice to Senior Management – Be fair and be active in listening to people supporting your practice

Current Employee – been working at Deloitte full-time for more than 8 years
Pros – Really invest in the people development.
Cons – Lots of group think. Very risk averse.
Advice to Senior Management – It's taking too long to weed out bad management. The BP acquisition really deluted our Brand.

Current Employee – been working at Deloitte full-time for more than a year
Pros – Large focus on Professional Development and Training.
Great people - large focus on mentoring and "flat" management where partners will interact with younger leadership.
Great work-life balance for consulting as all clients are locally based - and federal hours tend to be more manageable.
Recommend the rotational program for analysts - four projects in two years - to get a broad exposure to federal contracting.
Cons – Still working through the kinks of the Bearing Point Acquisition.
Need to "own your own career" to find the best opportunities, and this often requires luck.
