I worked at Delta Air Lines full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Never discount non revenue travel. Working in reservations and some creative problem solving will prevent you from ever getting stuck. The ability to swap shifts is incredibly convenient, you can schedule a vacation for yourself without using personal time. PTO is available in hourly increments. There are work from home options too!

    Cons

This is a huge company and while the perks are there, you are pretty much an employee number. Management caries more about their team's metrics than the individuals on the team. The tail wags the dog.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Senior management is doing a fantastic job growing the company, but there is a serious disconnect between entry level positions and their respective managers. Leads in res and Red Coats seem to be the only ones who understand the day to day.

    Pros

Good crew training atmosphere. Nice training facility with good instructors. Benefits were okay. Co-workers were friendly. Crew hotels were clean and nice.

    Cons

Not much room for advancement. Schedulers were sometimes rude and unhelpful. Once out of training you're very much on your own.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Help new crew members adjust to the new lifestyle with more support.

One of the best places to work.

I worked at Delta Air Lines part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Awesome flight benefits and the atmosphere is a helpful one. Sure theyre people who dont want to help you out but there are others who are willing to. Seniority plays a role in some aspects but if youre willing to work it shouldnt matter.

    Cons

Long wait for full time to open up and when it does it all goes by seniority first and then attendance and performamce. No benefits for ready reserve other than flight benefits.

I worked at Delta Air Lines full-time (less than an year)

    Pros

Flight benefits were great to have, although sometimes hard to use. Good people to work with, and management encouraged an atmosphere of teamwork. Lots of training for newbies, and a constant emphasis on safety which made me proud to be associated with Delta.

    Cons

Expectations can be very high, and RIFs can remove even longtime employees. My experience there lasted less than a year before a layoff.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management seems to have a good handle on the business, but I wonder if they intentionally ramp up the workforce knowing they will reduce it again during the next economic downturn. Longtime employees admitted to me a sense of insecurity. That probably does not serve Delta's best interests.

Former Employee - Proudly Flight Attendant, Nyc in New York, NY

I worked at Delta Air Lines full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Medical benefits, flexibility, travel, and autonomy

    Cons

Union, lazy co-workers, no holidays, EVERYTHING based on years of service, no age limit for mandatory retirement so some dinosaurs won't retire yet cannot perform job requirements any longer. Frustrating.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

If you want to change some things for the better, ask in-flight how they would change it. They are the ones working the planes and can give you the best and most efficient feedback. Not the bean counters.

I worked at Delta Air Lines full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people that take pride in their work, flight benefits, pride related to Delta's place in aviation history, healthy work/life balance, good pay and benefits.

    Cons

There was lots of bureaucracy and it was slow sometimes to get some things moving - that could sometimes be very frustrating.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't forget the ones on the ground - they are Delta Air Lines to our customers.
