I worked at Deluxe Entertainment full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

It is a very good company that values its employees. People there really care about movies and producing a product that pleases the customer. There are Friday treats in the summer, and people's birthdays are celebrated on a monthly basis.

    Cons

Work can be feast or famine at times. You are usually busy throughout the year, but every now and then there are lulls followed by a lot of work all at once.

    Pros

The best part about working at deluxe is bagel thursdays and friday treats. I also like the values the company has as a whole.

    Cons

mondays, tuesdays, and wednesdays. Also I do not really like how difficult it to solve issues as things have to go through an assemble line of people just to get done.

    Pros

Deluxe was founded by a visionary man who worked hard to make this company what it is today - the largest post production distributor. Great managers who promote team work.

    Cons

The film work tracking software is old and lacks modern technology.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Upgrade software technology.

I worked at Deluxe Entertainment as a contractor (more than a year)

    Pros

    Flexible schedule
    Great Pay
    Interesting work
I loved this job and hated giving it up due to my demanding school schedule. As a full-time student and mom the flexible hours were great! Also, during the summer I could bring my kids with me (ages 6&8) and they would help a little or just sit quietly in the corner and play games. Occasionally one of the managers would invite them to watch a movie while I worked. They loved that! If you are not afraid of hard work and getting a little dirty (cardboard dust) this is a great job. You do end up with a lot of paper cuts though which I didn't realize until I cleaned my hands with hand sanitizer after my first job. Ouch!

    Cons

    Paper cuts!
Sometimes frustrating and labor intensive. The instructions aren't always perfectly clear and some of the standees are huge so you might need to find a friend to help you out.
Movie theaters tend to have a lot of managers so it can be difficult to build relationships since you deal with a different person every time. After two year I got to know a lot of them though and their trust made the job a lot easier.
Very little training, but once you figure it out your pay increases since you get paid per job.
They also take a while to pay and you are a contract employee so you are responsible for your own taxes. Keep good mileage records and receipts of all job related expenses (an electric screwdriver is your best friend) so you can write them off and reduce your tax bill.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Getting those paychecks out a little faster would be great! Also, do these standee designers actually put together their own designs? Sometimes it seemed they didn't.

Great networking and hands on experience

    I worked at Deluxe Entertainment

    Pros

Work with a great bunch of people in various departments.
Learn new things about today's technology.
When learning new tasks your fellow team members are always willing to help you with every step of the way.

    Cons

Difficult to network at times in a super fast paced environment but do-able.
The company mostly hires from the outside for higher level positions rather than train hardworking and capable workers from inside the company.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take care of your team members more. When one promotes the team should move up in the ranks as well or given the option to transfer to another department when enough time has been put in their present position. Too much time in one position (especially if they want a challenge) can increase the likelihood of low productivity.

    Pros

A great work environment, plus awesome people who work there. They work hard, but play hard.

    Cons

They promised an annual bonus when hired, but then when the time came, they cancelled it because of "the economy"

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't say the bonus is guaranteed in the interview process if it truly is not

I have been working at Deluxe Entertainment full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

This company does generally try to keep their employees happy. Performance bonuses are a nice sweetner.

    Cons

Don't see much opportunity for advancement unless you are a workaholic. They also tend to hire coordinators and temps alot instead of having fully skilled and invested workers.

You have to make your work/ife balance on your own. Otherwise they will work you into the ground.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Just because a person works 12-14 hours a day doesn't mean they are management material!
