Current Employee – been working at Dendreon full-time for more than a year
Pros – As a newer company, there are many improvement projects in place and everyone is given the opportunity to participate in projects of their choice. There is also a relaxed workplace attitude.
Cons – There is a great deal of secrecy. Shift schedules are changed very often and without much notice. Many changes are made which make the job more difficult instead of resort.
Advice to Senior Management – SOP changes should involve more input from the department with the most responsibilities as listed on the document.

Former Employee – worked at Dendreon
Pros – Great benefits, fast pace and exceptional growth, flexible work structure, casual work environment / culture, you know - curing cancer.
Cons – Serious lack of communication between teams and also between strata of employees to management and vice versa.
Dendreon grew from just 100 employees to 2000 employees in <30 months. Too many people from the CEO down to Associate Directors are more suited to managing a company that is closer to 100 employees.
Over priced market product.
Greedy executives.
Advice to Senior Management – Time to take a step back and re-evaluate who the decision makers are and what their goals ultimately are - there is too much siloing.
When you decide to layoff 25% of the work force, as was performed during the week of 09/05/2011, it would be wise to root out the nepotism before processing the papers.
Don't be afraid to fire people who are not working out at first - in this economy and in an "employment at will" state such as WA - just cut the dead weight.

Former Employee – worked at Dendreon full-time for more than a year
Pros – My colleagues were generally smart, conscientious, and wanted the product to be successful. Solid overall compensation package.
Cons – Refusal to recognize the elephant in the room by senior management and I don't mean just product sales. company seemd to be having trouble turning the corner from quirky R&D to a profitable company.
Advice to Senior Management – the big layoff is probably too little, too late.

Former Employee – worked at Dendreon full-time for more than a year
Pros – The pay and benefits were good, as were training opportunities. Also they promoted from within. Flexible schedule when needed. Technology was up to date. The company's mission is a great one.
Cons – Don't work here if you can't handle extreme ups and downs. When things were good, they were great. But there have been massive layoffs at times.
Advice to Senior Management – Hire business people and not doctors for executive management.
