    Sr. Associate I

Senior Manufacturing Associate I (Current Employee)

ProsThe benefits are good in comparison to other biotech/pharma organization.
In addition, the Manufacturing Associates care a lot about doing their jobs and will go the extra mile.

ConsThere are not that many growth opportunities if starting in manufacturing.
Strong cliques are present and this type of environment can prevent fair growth.

    very poorly managed

Prosfirst fda approved vaccine to help with prostate cancer

Consvery poorly managed and employees who care about there job and were proud to help ill patients were told this is a long term CAREER job and only turned into a poorly ran trom top to bottom which caused major layoffs and shutdowns of sites.

Advice to Senior Managementpreoperly trained and managed from top to pass along to the bottom to be a successful fun great working environment.

the company that will not die

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Seattle, WA

ProsExcellent benefits, good compensation. Seattle office is in a great location.

ConsMost stressful job I've ever had, and it had nothing to do with the actual work. Very little internal cohesion between various business groups. No business pipeline. CEO has yet to foster any real sense of leadership.

Advice to Senior ManagementBe honest with employees and overall company goals. Refocus company towards R&D.

Some local management are excellent, some are horrible

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

    Pros- Great Benefits
    - Flexibility
    - Some EXCELLENT mid-level managers
    - Some great people to work with
    - Generally a professional environment
    - Willing to take suggestions for change

    Cons- Instability (Layoffs every year)
    - Terrible senior management
    - Culture has become very competitive
    - Focus on Quality is sometimes difficult
    - Lack of transparency

Advice to Senior ManagementSometimes listening to the ideas of your associates is vital; we have good ideas too!

Sr. Execs should let people in the company have an idea if their jobs are stable.

Great product but companies financial managers blew it

    Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)
    Seattle, WA

ProsGreat health benefits, good salary, and a great team of guys to work with. Excellent location downtown right above Pikes Place Market.

ConsConstant downsizing over the 3 year period I was there. Very difficult to get long term support from management team because of changes in the guard after each round of lay-offs

Advice to Senior ManagementOriginal board really let the employees down by misrepresenting the company and its finances to the general public. While this resulted in an initial surge in stock price it eventually tanked the company

Excellent product but lacking fiscal management, depth of pipeline and sales prowess to succeed.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Union City, GA

ProsExcellent benefits, good compensation. The annual retrenchment has kept people focused on keeping their professional connections and their skill set current at all times. The most recent round has opened opportunities for assuming additional responsibilities that were non-existent before.

ConsThe constant schedule changes and annual retrenchment have also caused constant stress for employees. The environment is one of walking on egg shells. This prevents people from truly doing their best work.

A good learning experience, amazing therapy, but continued poor mgmt.

    Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
    Seattle, WA

ProsThe other people in my department are great: friendly, willing to help trouble shoot, and great communicators. Some of the time management is friendly and easy to work with. The base pay is good, although not excellent for mid-level in-house employees.

ConsWhen hiring they tout the bonus potential, but for in-house employees the board seems to feel that it is ok not to fund the bonus pool fully depsite the fact that we hit all our corporate objectives. If sales are the ones not hitting objectives, they should be the ones whose bonuses are penalized. Having come from another growing biotech company that really treated their employees as valued team members and ensured they were well compensated for their incredibly hard work, It was a bit of a shock my first year, when Dendreon's board cut bonuses for all staff despite the fact that all clinical/medical corporate goals had been achieved. Staff are constantly leaving. We had two people on our floor leave last week and I believe two more just gave notice this week. It is really disheartening.

Advice to Senior ManagementMid-level managers/Sr. Directors/Directors-Increase your communication skills. Many of you shoot first and ask questions later. This makes each work day a bit stressful, when really there are no major issuses and everything is running smoothly. Talking you down off the ledge and explaining the situation takes up considerable time and really causes a lot of stress for lower level employees. Please just read each email COMPLETELY and think about it before you jump to conclusions.

C-level-Advocate for the right people to the board. If you do not bonus the employees who are excelling at their jobs at the industry standard, they will leave.

    agree with most others...

    IT Staff (Former Employee)
    Seattle, WA

Prosgood pay and benefits if you keep your job, great coworkers, convenient downtown office location, feels good to be part of innovative cancer treatment

ConsI have to agree with most of the comments on here regarding upper management and the way they seem to have overestimated and blew a lot of money expecting far greater sales.

Advice to Senior ManagementI hope they get it together because if this type of treatment can be used to treat other types of cancers it will improve the lives of many people.

ConsJob security, lack of direction and transparency.

Advice to Senior ManagementGet it together.
