I have been working at Denny's part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

The GM is great and so is the assistant manager, they will help you and give you the hours you need, of course if you deserve them. Some co-workers , including myself, are extremely helpful when the going gets rough. Some of the customers have been going there for years, so it's a very friendly environment. Some people leave great tips.Great place to start off your experience as a server/host.

    Cons

Sometimes understaffed, very rude customers once in a while, sometimes the guests don't leave alot of tip but of course that's based on the service and because the menu is not too expensive, people come with not that much money and don't really know how to tip anyways. Some employees are very selfish and not helpful at all, only thinking about themselves.

    I worked at Denny's part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Fun work environment, meet interesting people.

    Cons

Good money doesn't always come with more hours. Very busy at times with little support, i.e. sometimes the restaurant was completely full and there was no bus boy or host and only 3 servers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Do a quality check of all your restaurants. I was constantly told that my location (Hoffman Estates, IL) was a great Denny's and they passed other Denny's just to come to ours.

    Cons

management have no communication or any type of order amongst themselves

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

upper management needs to do a suprise visit to see how things are run.

    I worked at Denny's part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Pros: Awesome Co-workers, I had some good managers, good and busy location. I miss it sometimes.

    Cons

Sometimes it's the customers themselves, it can get crazy busy and you can get behind really quickly if your not a fast paced employee, can be stressful at times.

I worked at Denny's part-time (less than an year)

    Pros

I worked as a waitress, but they were willing to train me on expo. Communication at my store was pretty open between staff. Generally there is good FOH/BOH cohesion. If you work in a good franchise, management is willing to listen to suggestions.

    Cons

Depending on where your denny's is located, your tips may suffer. The work can be hard, and shift responsibilities may exceed what is written-you have to use your common sense.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep communication open, have a clear policy in case of sudden mass rushes on quiet hours.

I have been working at Denny's part-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours. You can move up in the company if you want. You can ask to be cross trained to work more hours.

    Cons

Hours are inconsistant. You may be asked to stay late or leave early. The management is also inconsistant. I have had very good managers and others who should have never been hired and should never work with the public. (Or people in general!)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Get back to the focus on the customer. Painting and "remodels" are no substitute for regular maintenance and cleaning. Oweners, pay your management what they are worth...... you get what you pay for.

I have been working at Denny's part-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Great place to ket your foot in the door in the food industry.
    Flexible hours.
    No prior training required.
    Great place to meet friends.

    Cons

Dealing with certain customers can be annoying.
While there is opportunity to move up you can only go so far.
Depending on your store, upper management can very greatly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Invest in your employees and you will see a greater investment from your customers.
