I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

Great people, very smart managers, room to contribute and add value where you see deficiencies

    Cons

No clear vision from senior management, lack of communication between teams, low salaries, difficult to get promotions, too many contractors instead of promoting growth from within

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Must use words AND actions to set your vision, and in turn enable others to believe and follow

I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time

    Pros

DB's people are top-notch and are known to be at the cutting edge of the markets and derivatives. The atmosphere is competitive and aggressive. Compensation is not what is used to be, even for top performers.

    Cons

The industry changes, including capital requirements, cutting of derivative trading and credit appetite have hit hard at the spots where DB used to excel. Work has become more plain vanilla and commoditized (boring).

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Since the upside has been signifincatly taken away, mangement should focus on given more quality of life perks to staff, including more flexible time off, less face time required and educational opportunities.

I have been working at Deutsche Bank

    Pros

Very corporate and professional. Great working location in the central area of Jacksonville.

    Cons

    Very difficult to get promoted.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Reward hard work rather than relying on an HR promotion complex formula.

  9. Overall, a very good bank to work for

I have been working at Deutsche Bank full-time

Good opportunities for training and deal experience at all levels.
Opportunity to get promoted quickly for top performers.

    Cons

Compensation comparable to other banks for front office roles.

I worked at Deutsche Bank full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

DBGT has great benefits packages, reasonable pay packages.
The team I worked with in Cary was great.

    Work hours were relatively manageable.

    Cons

There are not enough resources for self learning. Very few CBTs available.
Relatively few trainings held in classroom as well, other than the ones pushed down from management.
DBGT is a separate legal entity - meant for software development for the bank. Downside, it got disconnected from the business and employees lack exposure to business knowledge and requirements, yet the organisation as a whole is just as regulated as the business, coz its still a bank. Makes it extremely hard to actually work and get ahead in your career. I have tried networking extremely well across the organisation, but DBGT has too many strategic issues, leading to a lot of internal politics to fight against, to get anything done.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Understand the impact of strategy to the people and business:
ex: Moving jobs from London and NJ to Cary - and then hiring people in Cary to report to managers in NJ and London - caused complete disharmony and a conflict of interest among teams. This impacted deliveries across the board.

Too many vendors - Lead to lack of accountability and the piecing together of ridiculous SLAs across all teams.
