    Pros

U make new friends and meet weird people. The money is ok, the floor staff are lovely and helpfull, except the management that are extremelly mean to the staff.

    Cons

Worked in the Guinness Storehouse and I witnessed the worst abusive behaviours from the TL s and managers. Saw colleagues being bullied, being disrespected and blackmailed! Union had to be involved several times! Morning Meetings are held to expose/point the problems in the company, what the staff are struggling with nd managers take this as a personal and offensive criticism and don t even care to what the staff are saying. Lack of maturity and professionalism of the management make the environment worse. Opportunities are given in a preferencial way, which is not fair on the rest of the staff that have been working as much as the otheres.

    Advice to Management

My advice to the managers? be part of the team! Lead your staff and be the example to them and move urself out of this comfort zone! Listen to your staff!! Give them opportunities to keep them motivated to go this place every single.morning for their own meriths and dedication ! Be an inspiration! Stop the early meetings if nothing is going to change! Take your job seriously, with passion and care! Not possible to give a pay rise? Fine, still tell them how much they re important to this place! Something is going wrong? Listen to it, be open minded to take criticisms and advises, spend a week doing their jobs. Learn!

    Pros

    Thursday Happy Hours
The nice people in the cafeteria.

    Cons

Wow. I have never seen such BULLYING in the work place. Disgusting.
    Incompetent, dumb management.
    Lots of re-orgs and layoffs.
People have to double up in cube spaces.

    Advice to Management

What an unprofessional environment. How do you think you're going to get on Best Places to Work List when bullying is an every day occurance... even in HR? You know it exists, yet you turn the other way. You should be ashamed of the disrespect that goes on.

Diageo does not live by it's values. What a joke.

    Pros

Company is providing decent benefits and have nice "cheer-up" activities.

    Cons

Promoted mid leaders are not up to the job, they look to be be cooking their own business and making lots of not essential extra hours for a lot of team members...

    Advice to Management

Would be good to think big and review the processes and the performance of the leadership team as well.

    Pros

Solid remuneration. Rewards based. Great brands. Broad portfolio. Ability to move across business units and internationally. Invest in innovation and brand building.

    Cons

Re-structuring is frequent and therefore less resources available. Work-life balance is minimal. Aggressive environment - driven by the number and less focus on people.

    Advice to Management

Need to develop consistency and less of a revolving door in leadership. Recognize the difficult culture and make adjustments to consider people and their values.

    Pros

Great iconic brands - company benefits, healthcare

    Cons

The interview process - Diageo has a strong culture and moral code for a Dignity at work Policy. Personal experience has demonstrated that this is only when it really suits them. HR are very poor if I'm honest, over 4 separate occasions the delays - the lack of internal communication is overwhelming. The direction internally seems lost and there is an inner circle from networking to face fits scenario. 1 month waiting to hear anything - roles that are advertised, then pulled, then someone fills internally without consultation.
Treated from a headhunted high performer to just cut out completely and financially ruined isn't in any company values I've seen however has happened to me. I'm sure Ivan isn't aware of the condition of the business leaders he heads up.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the people who are running the business day to day, retain talent that you've invested in.

    Pros

Great people, excellent culture, amazing benefits

    Cons

Leadership lack basic leadership skills. Most leadership don't have people skills and only think about their own careers. This is a major block for career progression for talented people. Too much restructuring

    Advice to Management

Stop thinking short term and don't throw money at everything because you have the liquidity. Think about the best and cost effective way of doing something. Make sure you don't get into the situation where you don't have to restructure because you thought about the problem at a tactical level. Regular Restructuring will avoid talented people joining or leaving the organisation. Wake up Ivan

    Pros

    The brands, flexy working etc

    Cons

    -HR processes are unbelievably weak
    -Leadership standards
-Employee Engagement (verified by dismal (and decreasing) internal engagement survey)
-Direction (there is a re-org every two years resulting in talent flush outs, and no one left to do the job afterwards)
    -Pay is average at best
-Actively discriminates against males (another great HR process to hire more females)
.... ugh i could go on.

    Advice to Management

-Doesn't matter. 99% chance they will hire another consultant to make their internal decisions (performance ambition much Diageo )
