    Pros

fun product line built on years of heritage.

    Cons

culture is one that is very focused on conflict, working 24 hours on global programs and reporting to London everyday.

    Pros

    Thursday Happy Hours
The nice people in the cafeteria.

    Cons

Wow. I have never seen such BULLYING in the work place. Disgusting.
    Incompetent, dumb management.
    Lots of re-orgs and layoffs.
People have to double up in cube spaces.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

What an unprofessional environment. How do you think you're going to get on Best Places to Work List when bullying is an every day occurance... even in HR? You know it exists, yet you turn the other way. You should be ashamed of the disrespect that goes on.

Diageo does not live by it's values. What a joke.

    Cons

No job security unless you know how to play the game.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Management needs to be honest with their employees. It is called a "Value Survey" after all.

    Pros

Salary , great brands and heritage

    Cons

two words which are bastradised in diageo india is leadership and strategy and both are missing big time
HR dept. is non existant , they only work as hiriing managers/recruiters

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In 2009 compnay did a restructuring and asked 70 odd people to go and in 2011-12 60+ people left on their own ( July to Jan). please take out some time and do some introspection and try to find out why people are leaving

    Incompetent Managers. Numerous Lay Offs

    Pros

Fun environment, nice office space, free parking, benefits were pretty good. Pay was ok but defintely not competitive. Work/life balance ok.

    Cons

Very poor communication, completely incompetent managers, very political, you must drink the kool aid and play the game to survive, lay offs every year, don't feel valued. There is no trust. You won't last long if you're smart- you will be seen as a threat.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There needs to be more communication both globally and regionally. Stop wasting money. Re-assess management- very top heavy and too many incompetent managers/directors/VPs.

Great place for the mediocre person, not so great for intelligent people.

    Pros

    - Great Benefits and good pay
    - Company is cash flush so you also get lots of little things like frequent free lunches, food at meetings, branded items and the T&E for travel is fairly lenient.
    - Its fun to work with booze
    - Lots of young people

    Cons

    - Diageo has no R&D mindset whatsoever, yet we throw the term innovation around liberally. Forget about developing anything truly unique. Any concept more complex than changing food coloring and sugar content just stifles the children of the corn at the technical center.
    - You end up becoming very good at creating the illusion that launching yet another flavored vodka in the same tired old package is a big accomplishment.
    - Most managers were brought up through the ranks rather quickly and spend most of their time hiding their incompetence.
Managers can be viscous at times since they know they are not very marketable to other companies and will do anything to keep their jobs.
    - Diageo does not look great on a resume. Most interviewers do not know the name.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Steal some senior talent from some of the more succesful CPG companies to truly foster innvoation capability.

    Pros

Great experience, however, that comes at the price of having absolutely no work-life balance.
Brands are phenomenal and the company is a stable choice in this economy.

    Cons

The leadership is extremely poor in competency and only understands how to maneuver through the politics of Diageo, rather than know how to lead a team to success. Additionally, we are so top heavy when it comes to leadership that it takes an excessive amount of time to arrive at even the simplest of decisions. This happens at most companies, however, Diageo is by far the worst I have seen. It's truly astonishing.

Additionally, Diageo is extremely frugal with their investments to the point where it's detrimental to the longevity of the business with respect to mostly investment in people but also with infrastructure. Our computers are absolutely horrible, running off of Windows 2000 with PC's built for Vista is just a combination for complete failure. Supposedly they are upgrading our system to Vista - they must have received a very large discount since this was announced one day after Windows announced that they would be moving to Windows 7.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Take out layers of leadership and ensure alignment of goals throughout all of Diageo NA.
Ensure consistency through different functions within Diageo (ie: procurement, quality, etc).

Diageo need to decide what to with the beer business before circumstances overtake them.

    Pros

Good brands, competitive compensation, good work mates

    Cons

loss of market share due to weak middle and senior management, little career opportunities for employees, all positions advertised the year I left went outside the company. No work life balance and moral was at a all time low.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Diageo have no or little relationship with their customers due to reduction in numbers and the outsourcing of critical customers facing staff. Decide now what to do with the beer business before their hand is forced by InBev or Heineken.
