  1. BioSpace division has some challenges, that are primarily created from within.

    Pros

While the company was owned by On Target Jobs, things were much better. Leadership actually cared about the success of the people, and looked for feedback. The office location is very nice, modern, and open. They do have a community focus as well.

    Cons

Once On Target Jobs (HCareers, HealtheCareers, and BioSpace), were acquired by Dice, things had a very long and laborious transition period. BioSpace came out the worst in this situation. New leadership never really knew how to make this division work within the larger scheme of things. Lack of experience, in higher level positions seemed evident, from day 1.

    Advice to Management

Rethink how the organization is structured, and try and treat each division the same, regardless of size.

    Pros

Working with some really great people and a known product in the market

    Cons

Working with some really not so great people, new sales structure has not only negatively effected the majority of the sales teams financially but destroyed the once positive company culture.

    Advice to Management

Director level management does not know market, product or how to direct a sales organization.

    Pros

Casual dress, nice facilities, team atmosphere.

    Cons

Woefully inadequate management simply didn't have a clue. "My way or the highway" approach prevented me from introducing any outside expertise. Any opinions from sales department will trump those of marketing or any other.

    Advice to Management

Stop surrounding yourself with yes men. Realize that your staff in Iowa are not second-class life forms compared to the New York, Ivy League management.

    Pros

    - Pay is OK - There are some people there, primarily those that have been there 5 years or less, who are good at what they do and current in their knowledge.

    Cons

    - Absolutely no strategic direction whatsoever - Make people directors and managers just because they've been there a while - No communication within or between departments - Lots of dead weight staff that has been there a long time and brings no value - Stuck in the 90s for processes (when they exist) and technology - HR department is a laughingstock - Spends a ridiculous amount of money on fluff

    Advice to Management

Get rid of 90 percent of the directors and above in the organization. Certain areas are extremely over staffed, while others are greatly understaffed.

    Pros

Salary was good. Compensation was good. Coworkers were great.

    Cons

Lack of communication from management. I was terminated without so much as a verbal warning, a written review, or final warning. I got a call from my manager, and out of the blue I was informed I was terminated. Beware a company that lacks communication. As far as I knew, I was an employee in good standing. I moved from Colorado to Florida to take this job. In less than six months, I was fired. Again, without so much as a performance review. Beware! Beware! Beware!

    Advice to Management

Communicate with your field sales team!
