    Pros

good benefits good hours sold process willing to provide training to assoc

    Cons

company WAS LACKING DIRECTION they wanted out of manufacturing so they sold off plant worked in. Was a very cyclical business so when work was there lots of hours and the opposite is true and you could never build or develop a responsive workforce equipment was technical

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

could have managed some processes yourself versus paying a 3rd party that you had no control over

I have been working at Diebold as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

As an intern, I worked on a plethora of different projects. My manager moved me around within our director-level organization and I got to learn a lot about the software stack as well as the company's products. Pay was competitive except I was not given raises due to company policy (not due to my performance) during my last two semesters. Gained a wide variety of experience and worked on meaningful projects. Intern experience led to a full-time offer for me. Very good people in the groups I worked with, and some very motivated ones at that. Great office environment which is improving literally every day. Suburban location with easy access, parking, and a peaceful outside place to eat lunch.

    Cons

There were some negative attitudes toward change, which to be frank was sorely needed.
Some lazy people still exist due to lack of motivation. Software and organizational tools could use some work.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Try to understand the unique needs of each department. For example, engineers have different requirements for document management, etc. than accounting, purchasing, or marketing.

I worked at Diebold as an intern (more than an year)

    Pros

To work there currently may not be such a bad thing. Over the course of the last year, the company has made quite a bit of effort in changing its image. Diebold is trying not only to appease the customer more but also has seemed to be making adjustments benefiting employees. They are taking a more collaborative approach.
In terms of growth, I believe that Diebold software is getting more and more attention.

    Cons

The work wasn't always the best. Also sometimes communication with branches over seas would cause trouble when working on a large-scale software issue.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue to value your employees just as much as you value the customer. In turn, the productivity from employees will excel which customers will take notice of.

I worked at Diebold full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Great variety of products and services sold and supported around the world. Endless opportunities for eager associates to spread their wings. Most associates are encouraged to ask questions, join teams, get involved in the future.

    Cons

If you are a person who likes to be told what to do and how and when... there are opportunities for you too, but they are more limited.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is much more to the success of a corporation than profits, EPS, P/E ratio, share price and revenue per associate. Remember that the associates who proudly work for you are raising families, educating their children, supporting their households and engaging in community life. Their paycheck is very important to them and they should not be terminated just because there is someone willing to work for 50% less in a country on the far side of the world.

I worked at Diebold full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

I was in the position of Administrative Assistant in the Oregon office and it was great. It had the feel of a small company but the training and benefits of a large organization. I was able to learn about both the sales and service side of the business. If you were fortunate enough to have great managers to work with, as I did, you were able to advance easily and they were invested in your success.

    Cons

As with most places, the Sales teams have better perks and better pay. It seemed as if sales associates frequently made promises to customers without checking with the service teams to see if it was possible to provide agreed upon services. It seemed like the service teams were always feeling under appreciated, underpaid, and just beat down. The morale was not always great among those teams.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote more of a collaborative environment between the sales and service teams. Instead of expecting the service teams to meet the demands of sales, work with them prior to making the deals to ensure that the customer has the best experience possible. Show appreciation to the service teams in an effort to boost morale.
