    Pros

I've been with Diebold for a while now. We suffer from big company syndrome and are cautious to try new business ideas. We are attempting to assimilate into the 21st century, it's slow going but it is improving as far as I can tell. The people are nice, hours flexible, and pay is enough to live modestly.

    Cons

Big company syndrome which yeilds low risk taking, agility issues and a tendency to miss market opportunities.

    Advice to Management

Trust your employees and value their opinions. Foster transparency and don't be afraid to do things differently.

    Pros

Very flexible work environment and autonomy to do your job. Work life balance is good and for the most part management is interested in what you have to say.

    Cons

Management doesn't speak to each other. Department compete it seems amongst each other and have their own agenda.

    Advice to Management

Listen to each other and talk amongst yourselves, get everyone on the same page and the company will improve dramatically.

    Pros

Industry all-star leadership, focused direction, sound business success philosophy, intelligent market approach and positioning

    Cons

Training, direct management support and assistance (for me at least), operational support and commission plan.... still working out the "kinks" in many areas but overall, the ES division is still in its infancy stage.

    Advice to Management

Keep working to get those "kinks" out and look deeper into your salespeople's actual work and progression before making decisions about ending their career with you. Minor personality conflicts or disagreements shouldn't "blacklist" a good employee who's working their tail off to be successful with you for their career, not just the short term.

    Pros

The people I work with on a day-to-day basis are awesome! Most managers are great as well and very down to earth and I learned a lot!

    Cons

Some of the upper management decisions are very questionable and have let some great talent just walk right out the door.

It also seems very hard to improve your career and move up.

    Pros

Learn about corporate-level service, in-depth company operation and industry-level service while operating phones to assist users. Flexible schedule to accommodate for interns! Also great for developing workplace Spanish skills, if chosen to develop them.

    Cons

Occasional weekend shift, rare wage increases for contractors, 2 year maximum contract without a 6 month leave of absence.

    Pros

Pay was good. It was nice having a laptop, cell phone, and company vehicle. Great job if you can work alone. Don't have a boss looking over your shoulder. I had a great team with some very knowledgeable techs on it. It was a good 9 years for me.

    Cons

Long hours at times, managers have their favorites. In my last 4 years there we went through 2 layoffs , a restructuring, and a volunteerly retirement. I decided it was time to leave.

    Advice to Management

Get back to what made Diebold great. Listen to the more experienced they will help you through the tough times.
