Sweet and Sour?..

Software Engineer (Former Employee)

I worked at Digital Insight as a contractor for less than a year

ProsThe people, culture and work life philosophy are grand. The work environment is "garage" casual. Great hardware, wifi and vpn readily available.

ConsThere exists a disconnect between both coworkers and upper management. Teams seem siloed and apprehensive of both other teams and management. Cohesiveness of vision and immediate purpose don't trickle down thoroughly from top to bottom.

Advice to Senior ManagementStop directing your subordinates to keep directives "secret" from other teams until the desired solutions are solvent. Share ideas from top to bottom. Don't rely on mandates to provide solutions, rely on the creativity and collaboration of your associates.

Long time employee seen it all

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)
Westlake Village, Los Angeles, CA

I have been working at Digital Insight full-time for more than 8 years

ProsThe people who have been long time employees care a lot about the business, There is a tribal family atmosphere.

ConsThe company has been sold twice in 2013. There is no clear vision of where the company is going. A large number of talented employees have left the company. There is not a lot of opportunity for upward mobility.

Advice to Senior ManagementEmployees who have demonstrated good work should be rewarded. Good employees seem to be taken for granted.

Too much change

Anonymous Employee (Former Employee)

I worked at Digital Insight full-time for more than 5 years

ProsThe people – they are the smartest, most dedicated and down right friendliest bunch I've ever worked with. Wish I could take them all with me! The company has always turned a profit, so it's solid from a financial point of view. The product is improving and some products are market leaders. Most managers allow for a nice work/life balance.

ConsToo much change, too quickly and made with very poor communication to employees. After the private acquisition they made us sign a 1-year no-hire agreement that we could not be re-hired by Intuit. We were offered an investment opportunity with the new company, but it was "postponed" right before we were acquired for a $600m profit. Nothing to make up for our lost stock options from Intuit which is a 15%+ hit on a lot of salaries after the acquisition. Lots of great talent is leaving because there are much more competitive offers for someone with Intuit on their resume.

Typical technology corporation work.

HTML Programmer (Current Employee)
Athens, GA

I have been working at Digital Insight full-time for more than 3 years

ProsA casual atmosphere, at least at my office. Finally upgraded to some newer hardware, at least at our desks. Some effort to use modern web technology. Fast-growing, compared to our financial sector competitors.

ConsVery dated back-end technology and hardware. Lots of regulatory overhead due to our client base. Part of a much larger corporation that's stuck with a lot of clients mired in old methods and requiring maintenance of some very old websites.

Advice to Senior ManagementHire enough employees that they can make consistent progress on project work, outside of business as usual. Hire better qualified customer-facing support while ditching the most backwards and labor-intensive clients.

DI was better as a standalone company

Development Manager (Former Employee)
Norcross, GA

I worked at Digital Insight

ProsBefore being acquired by Intuit DI had a strong vision and execution. Good focus, good employee morale, clear results from employee efforts, progressive products.

ConsDI, particularly large corporate customers, are no longer a strategic focus for DI as part of Intuit. Investment in technology and future product development is uncertain currently.

Advice to Senior ManagementTake time to understand the former strategy and details of each business unit to avoid missing out on growth opportunities.
