    Pros

Excellent work environment. Supportive leadership. Happening workplace with many events and free offerings. Great benefits and prestigious brand. Talented employees and a "whatever you need" approach to technology.

    Cons

Somewhat below average pay. Ambition runs high leading to intense workloads. Below average "summer hours" program.

    Pros

Excellent benefits, especially for working parents (LOVE the backup care option), really looks after their own -- lots of opportunities to stay within Discovery and move around the company

    Cons

Too many meetings, lots of value on status quo, not many opportunities to take risks

    Advice to Management

Cut down on meetings, do more "big swings," give more budget for risk-taking projects

    Pros

Great team, hands on experience, real opportunity to work full time after graduation if they like you and see that you are a hard worker and would fit well with the team. It is awesome to see how big Discovery really is while seeing it all from the inside. The internship program does not involve getting coffee or being a "gopher," it is about gaining skills and knowledge

    Cons

I would say the only con to working here is that this is only an internship and I can't stay. But I will definitely be keeping in touch with my new network and look for opportunities for when I graduate.

    Advice to Management

My only advice would be to open up more networking opportunities with management for the interns. Having events for the interns that puts them in an intentional networking situation would be beneficial for everyone, even if it is a little awkward at first, but that's networking!

    Pros

Lots of chances to shadow and learn about all different departments in the company

    Cons

Lots of downtime but you are given lots of busy work to pass the less busy time

    Advice to Management

    More guest speaker series!

    Pros

Great company, they treat their interns really well and have events and professional speakers all the time. Lots of things go on in the office during the summer

    Cons

Lots of full time employees don't work in the office all of the time, so the office is usually empty. No one entirely knows how to assign things to Interns

    Advice to Management

Have a better plan for your interns. Overall the company has a great intern plan, with speaker series and more, but on a smaller level interns don't entirely know what they are doing with their supervisors and have extremely inconsistent work loads.

    Pros

Solid 401K and benefits. 10 vacation days, 10 sick days, 3 balance days, 4 summer fridays this year

    Cons

constant turnover resulting in people handing double or triple the work for no reward or recognition

    Pros

Great benefits and perks. Great people to work with, location is great. Good employee programs and volunteer opportunities. Work Life Balance is supreme. Learning programs are a plus as well.

    Cons

Depending on your role and department, your individual growth and promotion can be hard to achieve. May even factor EEO related biased favoritism. If you are a hard worker overall, stability is there but is not 100% reliable for everyone.

    Advice to Management

Make performance results a part of professional growth, develop employees who are obvious key performers and retain them by awarding them quarterly Stellars if promotions are not in the budget. Management only promotes those who are favorites.

    Pros

Great benefits and promotes healthy and balanced lifestyle. The employees are friendly and professional.

    Cons

Minimal room for growth within smaller departments. Yearly salary increase percentage is on the lower end of the spectrum.

    Advice to Management

Increase number of internal positions to allow for more growth.
