I worked at Disney Studios full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, mostly friendly people. Lots of employee events. The studio has many amenities available in one location.

    Cons

They do expect a LOT, and recent changes have been more focused on the bottom line rather than quality of performance and atmosphere.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

In terms of motion pictures, the current strategy may be misguided.

I have been working at Disney Studios full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

There's a lot to be proud of working for an established entertainment company with such a recognizable brand. Exciting projects and wonderful people for the most part. It's rare that I'm embarrassed by the movie titles to which I've contributed. With Pixar, Marvel and LucasFilm in the mix, the future looks fairly bright.

    Cons

Corporate strategies and hierarchy do not seem to place a premium on filmmaking, only on building brands. And we can't seem to make it through a two-year period now without layoffs, or the threat of the same. It's bad for morale and takes away from employees' desire to do great things.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Revamp the human resources area, which seems to operate with blinders on, and make promoting within a bigger development priority.

I worked at Disney Studios full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Excellent image to employees from benefits for family and hard-work, inspiring to be part of a creative team, Cohesiveness, team-building a must, benefits, theme park access. Always great to hear reactions from people who know you work for Disney.Great proximity to valley and westside.

    Cons

Turnover, senior management changes, direction of video business, vs. theatrical. Current management and acquisitions of Marvel and LucasFilm create new opportunities, but some may lose jobs.

    More benefits to employees.

    I worked at Disney Studios

    Pros

Great brand to work on. Very proud of the work I did.
Very smart people...best of the best.
During Eisner's rein, priorities were clear.
    Motivating to do well.

    Cons

Employees were not always treated very well, or that they mattered. In the 1990's, you were made to feel completely dispensable.
The studio had a bit of a secretive nature. Tough politics. Kill or be killed.

    I worked at Disney Studios

    Pros

Fantastic place in the studio. Relaxed, good benefits including silver pass ("unlimited" access to Disneyland with guests), good brand name.

    Cons

Nothing much against Disney itself. It's a great place. I however had the misfortune of working with a manager and only co-worker who were bullies and good friends. Didn't help that the requirements were vague whereas deadlines weren't.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Nothing really. I had the bad luck to work with two guys who were aggressive and good but they sometimes confused the problem with the people.
