Ridiculously easy for the money

Dominos Delivery Driver (Current Employee)
Traverse City, MI

I have been working at Domino's full-time for more than 5 years

ProsFairly flexible hours, and not so many you can't have a life or another job. Good pay (hourly, plus a portion of the delivery fee, plus tips). Simple things are expected, sharp people won't have a problem. Cash daily can be a big help. I love the variety: working inside/outside, listening to my own music and driving my own car, interacting with mostly happy customers.

ConsThis job will kill your car. Do NOT drive a brand-new car. You become a magnet for scratches, dents, etc (even if you're a good driver). Also, plan on LOTS of miles driven. I typically drive 20,000 miles a year, and have know drivers that did more like 35,000 a year.

Advice to Senior ManagementYou've got a great company, good products, and a great outlook. Listen to your people. When you add too many products to the menu, our customers have a hard time reading the tiny print. Store-level employees have some great ideas, but despite your best efforts don't feel free to share them.

Take the commercial with a smashed pizza stuck to the top of the box in the inaugural commercial for CEO J. Patrick Doyle: "We'll fix this". But you didn't. The problem isn't careless drivers, it's the pathetically thin pizza boxes, and the floppy delivery bags. Years ago the bottoms were firm with an induction system (heat wave). It kept pizza hot, and NOT smooshed. This is one example of what front-line employees see. You've had MBA's that deliver pizza for you, delivery drivers with more than a decade of experience, store managers with three decades.

All-in-all... a great place to work. Keep it that way.

Delivery Expert

Delivery Expert (Current Employee)
Plano, TX

I have been working at Domino's part-time for less than a year

ProsAs a delivery expert you will be responsible for taking customers orders to them for delivery. The pros are the cash flow advantage of having cash every night and then an hourly paycheck every two weeks. Depending on your manager the hours could be flexible enough (as is the case for me) to work as well as attend college full time.

ConsThe majority of your paychecks comes from tips which is dependent upon the customers good will and therefore not a budget buddy.

Advice to Senior ManagementGas prices have risen and therefore the price per trip needs to be updated.

Domino's is awesome.

Assistant Manager (Current Employee)

I have been working at Domino's full-time for less than a year

ProsI love my job. I'm an AM (was promoted to GM after 6 mo. but had to step back down to AM due to personal reasons ): ) It's a very relaxed environment at a store level but at a management level it's a well-oiled machine. Our franchisee holds us accountable for our actions/numbers and we hold our crew accountable. Employees are treated respectfully, and we have fun at work. We're like a family.

ConsJust having a bad day really sucks, especially in this fast paced environment. OH and the customers!! UGH PEOPLE! Why do you call before you know what you want to order?!?!?!

Advice to Senior ManagementKeep it up ;)

Great opportunity for learning people skills.

Delivery Driver (Former Employee)
Hollister, CA

I worked at Domino's part-time for less than a year

Pros- Lots of room to improve people skills through interactions
- Tips can be very generous if people like you
- The hierarchy of job positions isn't complicated so if you perform your job well you will get your weekly hours

ConsThe only major con I can think of is that as a delivery driver, you are using your own vehicle and this is not compensated for.

Advice to Senior ManagementRe-label the delivery fee it is misleading to consumers and leads them to believe that is the drivers tip. Which leads to drivers not being tipped for their service and efforts. If your drivers aren't happy your customers can see it, and the best work place has employees that are happy.

Domino's is totally supportive of people furthering their education and offers the flexibility to allow you to do so.

Delivery Driver (Former Employee)

I worked at Domino's full-time for more than a year

ProsFlexibility, great tips, fun people

ConsAs a driver you are paid less than minimum wage on the road and if you don't get a tip on a delivery then you are working for less than minimum wage.
If you deliver to a school, they usually don't tip so you are working for less than minimum wage on those deliveries.

Advice to Senior ManagementThe only thing I could add for management is just to occasionally tell your people they are doing a good job. Everybody likes to hear that and it makes you take a little more pride in your job.
