I have been working at Domtar full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    Flexible with work/life balance

    Cons

Poor working conditions (Climate control, restrooms etc.)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Since the merger of other companies into Personal Care, things have been very different. We do not receive much communication from Leadership regarding the direction/ changes within the business. The moral is low and a lot of seasoned employees are worried about their future with the company. Leadership has been changing monthly and people are leaving at an alarming rate.

I have been working at Domtar

    Pros

Domtar has good benefits, long term goals, decent wages, supervisors that care about quality over quantity. The supervisors treat you like a person and not like some lowly laborer.

    Cons

Working with people that use the union to keep thier jobs instead of trying to do a good job.Working with equipment that is"fixed" to run instead of being repaired properly.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the employees' that actually run the equipment, make the product, and handle the finished goods. Watch how they work and how they react to a good job done well.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There are long days and nights sometimes; but overall it's a good job with some great people to work with.

I have been working at Domtar

    Pros

The fellow work employees; some are great. The type of work. The pay. The upside of shift is the time off and the flexibility in time off. The amount of vacation time. Safety. If you don't mind shift and getting a little dirty sometimes; it's a great work place.

    Cons

Communication. Treatment and fairness from management isn't very consistent at all in some departments. As far as I can see; in certain departments; the only downfall is management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Treat the people that you go through the elaborate hiring process to obtain with the respect and intellect that you saw in them when you hired them. Be fair and speak with respect and not constant harsh sarcasm!!! Communicate better between yourselves and then maybe you can communicate with the hired help.

I have been working at Domtar

    Pros

Good and supportive place to work

    Cons

Typical big company environment. Not much personal touch.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Got to increase the salary. Salary is pretty low thus resulting in high turnovers.

Need to have a clear vision for the future.
