Former Employee – worked at Doubletree Corporation full-time for more than a year
Pros – No great reasons to work here...STAY AWAY!!
Cons – No compassion for their employees. Long, long hours, no respect. No work/life balance. People in high ranking positions with no hospitality experience or background. Nothing like a Hilton Brand should be. Rooms and service are the worst!!
Advice to Senior Management – Start operating like a Hilton Brand. Don't treat employees like people that are socially beneath you.
No, I would not recommend this company to a friend – I'm not optimistic about the outlook for this company

Former Employee – worked at Doubletree Corporation full-time for more than 7 years
Pros – Hotel hosts very large conventions. Union property means longevity and some job security. Renovations are underway. Frequently has lots of opeings for many hotel positions.
Cons – When a large convention is gone, you know it. There is so much convention space that is very noticeable when the event has departed. Convention business hold priority over room sales at this property. How this trickles down is restaurant business is open for conventions. Hours of operation happen during conventions. If somebody comes from Minneapolis for dinner and a convention is not in house, the restaurant is closed and guests are sent to the hotel bar for dinner. There are huge inconsistancies. Many of the employees have union benefits, which provide little to no vacation time. There are huge staffing cuts here. One employee does the position of three, often times. Many of the employees do not have long term disability benefits. Corporate involvement from Richfield Hospitality is lacking. Hotel has flipped owners, morale suffered. Individual contribution is a result. Team efforts are sparse. Company and departmental meetings are few and far between. Banquets is the department with the greatest longevity records. Guests are turned away, frequently denied service, but usually accomodated if they belong to Hilton Honors program. Hilton gets the black eye for the Richfield Hospitality corporate "hands off" approach to managing this property.
Advice to Senior Management – The greatest asset in hotel management is the employee which brings in your guests, which provide you with the revenue to operate and stay in business. There needs to be a sufficient supply of employees not only recieve guests, but to also operate behind the scenes to effectively manage the flow of business. This hotel has the potential to be a "powerhouse" not just for convention business, but in room sales as well. There is a huge disconnect between corporate management and hotel management. The result: lower level management operates in a "firefighting" mode. There is not a plan. It is up to corporate management to spend enough time on site, visualizing the plan in place. Pay attention to sites that allow guests to rate the hotel. Ratings of the hotel are poor on these sites.

Former Employee – worked at Doubletree Corporation
Pros – The cookies are free to employees.
Discounts at related properties.
Always meeting new clients and challenges meaning no two days are the same.
Cons – Management is very disjoint and out to work the heck out of their reports for little or no recognition.
Management is more concerned with throwing (away) money at motivational speakers and self-improvement seminars for the staff instead of focusing on being good and effective managers themselves.
Advice to Senior Management – Take a closer look at your middle management and see if they are providing you with the overall experience the customer deserves. Refocusing your middle management level to a more customer service view will help to steer lower management and workers to do the same.

Former Employee – worked at Doubletree Corporation
Pros – Great training, fun people. Downtown location. Close employee relationships. Great location, free parking. Some managers are caring and care for their staff. great orientation.
Cons – Some management does not care about fair treatment for all emplyees. raises never happen. Alot of drama. Unfair promotions for people who have been with the company less than six months. Overworked people because others dont care
Advice to Senior Management – keep your staff that knows how to do their job. keep your staff that cares. promote people and give raises. Stop being secretive with management changes.
